Book excerpt: Sasza potrafi skomplikować sobie wszystko. Tym razem jedno nieopatrznie zadane pytanie powoduje głęboki wewnętrzny konflikt, a ten z kolei prowokuje konflikty zewnętrzne. Sprawdzona strategia Saszy? Ucieczka. Jednak to, przed czym ucieka, i tak go dogania. Wywiązanie się z danego słowa, brak wybaczenia, niechęć do narzucanych norm, do nadawanych etykiet — te kwestie powracają i się kumulują, prowadząc do późnej refleksji i desperackiej próby poukładania wszystkiego jeszcze raz od nowa. Napisana lekkim językiem książka obyczajowa z wątkiem LGBT wciąga czytelnika od pierwszych stron. Perypetie bohatera raz śmieszą, raz wprowadzają w stan refleksji, gdy Sasza sięga do wspomnień i analizuje swoje życie. Pierwszoosobowa narracja pozwala dogłębnie zintegrować się z bohaterem i poznać jego punkt widzenia. To specyficzny antybohater, który potrafi wzbudzić sympatię i na długo zapaść w pamięć.

Book excerpt: The book is about history of Lithuania and Russia in Medieval Ages, about writing chronicles, and meanings of words used at the time. It is an analysis of over 30 volumes of the Full Collection of Russian Chronicles, that dates back to 855 A.D. The chronicles in Medieval Ages were written in Slavic using Cyrillic alphabet by monks of the Russian Orthodox Church and in Old German and Medieval Latin by monks of the Teutonic Order. Full texts from Lithuanian in Old Belorussian tongue and excerpts in translations from Russian and Teutonic are included. The book starts in 13th century Lithuania—the time Lithuania emerged as state. The analysis of chronicles takes its reader through said above records made by Russian Orthodox monks (855 - 1453 A.D.), and to records and documents made by Catholics—Teutons and Poles (1191 - 1434 A.D.), Lithuanian (1345 - 1446), and ends with remarks about errors in dictionaries. The book describes the order in which chronicles were copied and therefore contains solutions to unsolved problems of sequence. The book contains graphs, tables, maps, that clarify explanations, a dictionary with almost 2200 entries and an Indices of Names, Tribes, Geographical Places, in which the Author provided extended information about the people, tribes, and places.

Book Kartki z notesu Opowiadania

Download or read book Kartki z notesu Opowiadania written by Jerzy Broszkiewicz and published by Wydawnictwo Estymator. This book was released on 2021-06-23 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Zbiór 23 interesujących opowiadań o różnorodnej tematyce i charakterze. Przeważa wojna i wojenne obsesje, często dochodzi do głosu problematyka obyczajowa, społeczna, polityczna. Zwraca uwagę wrażliwość autora na otaczającą rzeczywistość, objawiająca się nie tylko w wielkim czynie, ale i w drobnym szczególe. Opowiadania te cechuje oszczędność, skłonność do skrótu, brak jednoznacznej pointy, wielość psychologicznych kontekstów i publicystyczny charakter. Book Universities in Imperial Austria 1848 1918

Download or read book Universities in Imperial Austria 1848 1918 written by Jan Surman and published by Purdue University Press. This book was released on 2018-12-15 with total page 473 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Combining history of science and a history of universities with the new imperial history, Universities in Imperial Austria 1848–1918: A Social History of a Multilingual Space by Jan Surman analyzes the practice of scholarly migration and its lasting influence on the intellectual output in the Austrian part of the Habsburg Empire. The Habsburg Empire and its successor states were home to developments that shaped Central Europe's scholarship well into the twentieth century. Universities became centers of both state- and nation-building, as well as of confessional resistance, placing scholars if not in conflict, then certainly at odds with the neutral international orientation of academe. By going beyond national narratives, Surman reveals the Empire as a state with institutions divided by language but united by legislation, practices, and other influences. Such an approach allows readers a better view to how scholars turned gradually away from state-centric discourse to form distinct language communities after 1867; these influences affected scholarship, and by examining the scholarly record, Surman tracks the turn. Drawing on archives in Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Ukraine, Surman analyzes the careers of several thousand scholars from the faculties of philosophy and medicine of a number of Habsburg universities, thus covering various moments in the history of the Empire for the widest view. Universities in Imperial Austria 1848–1918 focuses on the tension between the political and linguistic spaces scholars occupied and shows that this tension did not lead to a gradual dissolution of the monarchy’s academia, but rather to an ongoing development of new strategies to cope with the cultural and linguistic multitude.
