Book Symmetric Structures in Banach Spaces

Download or read book Symmetric Structures in Banach Spaces written by William B. Johnson and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1979 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper detailed investigations of spaces with a symmetric basis of finite length and rearrangement invariant function spaces are presented. Book Bounded Symmetric Domains In Banach Spaces

Download or read book Bounded Symmetric Domains In Banach Spaces written by Cho-ho Chu and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2020-09-10 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This timely book exposes succinctly recent advances in the geometric and analytic theory of bounded symmetric domains. A unique feature is the unified treatment of both finite and infinite dimensional symmetric domains, using Jordan theory in tandem with Lie theory. The highlights include a generalized Riemann mapping theorem, which realizes a bounded symmetric domain as the open unit ball of a complex Banach space with a Jordan structure. Far-reaching applications of this realization in complex geometry and function theory are discussed. This monograph is intended as a convenient reference for researchers and graduate students in geometric analysis, infinite dimensional holomorphy as well as functional analysis and operator theory.

Book Lattice Structures on Banach Spaces

Download or read book Lattice Structures on Banach Spaces written by Nigel John Kalton and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1993 with total page 105 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The general problem addressed in this work is to characterize the possible Banach lattice structures that a separable Banach space may have. The basic questions of uniqueness of lattice structure for function spaces have been studied before, but here the approach uses random measure representations for operators in a new way to obtain more powerful conclusions.

Book Symmetric Banach Manifolds and Jordan C Algebras

Download or read book Symmetric Banach Manifolds and Jordan C Algebras written by H. Upmeier and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2011-08-18 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book links two of the most active research areas in present day mathematics, namely Infinite Dimensional Holomorphy (on Banach spaces) and the theory of Operator Algebras (C*-Algebras and their non-associative generalizations, the Jordan C*-Algebras). It organizes in a systematic way a wealth of recent results which are so far only accessible in research journals and contains additional original contributions. Using Banach Lie groups and Banach Lie algebras, a theory of transformation groups on infinite dimensional manifolds is presented which covers many important examples such as Grassmann manifolds and the unit balls of operator algebras. The theory also has potential importance for mathematical physics by providing foundations for the construction of infinite dimensional curved phase spaces in quantum field theory.

Book Some Topological and Geometrical Structures in Banach Spaces

Download or read book Some Topological and Geometrical Structures in Banach Spaces written by Nassif Ghoussoub and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 1987 with total page 123 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this memoir, we study the interrelations between the topological, measure theoretical and geometrical structures in certain classes of Banach spaces. The focus is on those spaces whose bounded subsets have arbitrarily norm-small convex combinations of slices. This class contains spaces with the Radon-Nikodym property as well as B-convex Banach spaces. The topological analysis leads to the concept of "first class functions around sets". This extension of the classical notion of Baire-1 functions is developed in a general non-linear setting.

Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the International Workshop on Banach Space Theory, held at the Universidad de Los Andes in Merida, Venezuela in January 1992. These refereed papers contain the newest results in Banach space theory, real or complex function spaces, and nonlinear functional analysis. There are several excellent survey papers, including ones on homogeneous Banach spaces and applications of probability inequalities, in addition to an important research paper on the distortion problem. This volume is notable for the breadth of the mathematics presented.

Book Classical Banach Spaces I

  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media

  • ISBN : 3642665578
  • Pages : 202 pages

Download or read book Classical Banach Spaces I written by J. Lindenstrauss and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The appearance of Banach's book [8] in 1932 signified the beginning of a syste matic study of normed linear spaces, which have been the subject of continuous research ever since. In the sixties, and especially in the last decade, the research activity in this area grew considerably. As a result, Ban:ach space theory gained very much in depth as well as in scope: Most of its well known classical problems were solved, many interesting new directions were developed, and deep connections between Banach space theory and other areas of mathematics were established. The purpose of this book is to present the main results and current research directions in the geometry of Banach spaces, with an emphasis on the study of the structure of the classical Banach spaces, that is C(K) and Lip.) and related spaces. We did not attempt to write a comprehensive survey of Banach space theory, or even only of the theory of classical Banach spaces, since the amount of interesting results on the subject makes such a survey practically impossible.

Book Topics in Banach Space Theory

Download or read book Topics in Banach Space Theory written by Fernando Albiac and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-07-19 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text provides the reader with the necessary technical tools and background to reach the frontiers of research without the introduction of too many extraneous concepts. Detailed and accessible proofs are included, as are a variety of exercises and problems. The two new chapters in this second edition are devoted to two topics of much current interest amongst functional analysts: Greedy approximation with respect to bases in Banach spaces and nonlinear geometry of Banach spaces. This new material is intended to present these two directions of research for their intrinsic importance within Banach space theory, and to motivate graduate students interested in learning more about them. This textbook assumes only a basic knowledge of functional analysis, giving the reader a self-contained overview of the ideas and techniques in the development of modern Banach space theory. Special emphasis is placed on the study of the classical Lebesgue spaces Lp (and their sequence space analogues) and spaces of continuous functions. The authors also stress the use of bases and basic sequences techniques as a tool for understanding the isomorphic structure of Banach spaces. From the reviews of the First Edition: "The authors of the book...succeeded admirably in creating a very helpful text, which contains essential topics with optimal proofs, while being reader friendly... It is also written in a lively manner, and its involved mathematical proofs are elucidated and illustrated by motivations, explanations and occasional historical comments... I strongly recommend to every graduate student who wants to get acquainted with this exciting part of functional analysis the instructive and pleasant reading of this book..."—Gilles Godefroy, Mathematical Reviews

Book Banach Spaces and Descriptive Set Theory Selected Topics

Download or read book Banach Spaces and Descriptive Set Theory Selected Topics written by Pandelis Dodos and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-05-10 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume deals with problems in the structure theory of separable infinite-dimensional Banach spaces, with a central focus on universality problems. This topic goes back to the beginnings of the field and appears in Banach's classical monograph. The novelty of the approach lies in the fact that the answers to a number of basic questions are based on techniques from Descriptive Set Theory. Although the book is oriented on proofs of several structural theorems, in the main text readers will also find a detailed exposition of numerous “intermediate” results which are interesting in their own right and have proven to be useful in other areas of Functional Analysis. Moreover, several well-known results in the geometry of Banach spaces are presented from a modern perspective.
