Book Swiss Wineries Export Strategies

Download or read book Swiss Wineries Export Strategies written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis focuses on the export strategies of Swiss wineries. The relevance of the topic is given by the changing dynamics in the global wine industry and the actual competitive situation in the wine market in Switzerland. The thesis has three goals: first, discussing the export potential of Swiss wines and providing elements speaking in favor of or against the encouragement of exports; second, providing guidance for Swiss wine producers who would like to develop an export strategy; and third, adding to the literature on export strategies of SMEs. Accordingly, its research questions are: "Is exporting worth it for Swiss wine producers?" and "What makes exporting successful for Swiss wineries and what is the best export (marketing) strategy?" The analysis of the content of the in-depth semi-structured interviews (qualitative research) conducted with winemakers and members of organizations showed that exporting can be worth it for Swiss wine producers, principally because it brings image benefits, which can help sell more and better at home as well as abroad. Furthermore, from the responses and existing strategies of the respondents, the optimal export strategy, maximizing the benefits of exports (economic and non-economic), could be formulated. Broadly speaking, it consists of choosing high-end high quality products for niche markets, priced according to their positioning.

Book Swiss Wine Market Report

Download or read book Swiss Wine Market Report written by Pierre Spahni and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1998-01-01 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Swiss wine industry is waking up to a new challenge: to raise the competitiveness of its wines, which has been eroded by the general strength of the country's currency during the first half of the 1990s and is becoming ever more evident as the liberalisation of the country's trade regime is taking hold. This report brings together material on the vital issues shaping the future of the Swiss wine market. After a brief look at the country's socio-economic situation, consumption patterns are reviewed. The market for reds and for whites is then examined. Much of the emphasis is laid on imports, which have hardly been looked at to date. A look at distribution channels shows how wines reach final consumers. A handy who's who of negociants-importers is supplied. Finally, Pierre Spahni provides a review of the most recent policy changes and looks ahead at those planned for up until 2001- and beyond. The report is aimed at a foreign readership primarily - not just exporters seeking to gain a better knowledge of this major market but also for economists, lawyers and civil servants interested in the wine sector and those dealing with Swiss trade issues in general.

Book Wine and Tourism

Download or read book Wine and Tourism written by Marta Peris-Ortiz and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-12-01 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to show how wine tourism can be used as a model for sustainable economic development, driving economic growth and social development in some locations. It will explore the interaction between tourism and viticulture in wine tourism destinations, while also explaining some of the repercussions of these activities. This book covers various topics including regional development, environmental management, sustainable viticulture, quality management in wineries and wine tourism routes among others. Wine tourism, which combines two important yet distinct economic activities (i.e., tourism and viticulture), has recently emerged as a new tourism product driven by tourists’ search for new experiences and wineries’ need to diversify their businesses and seek new revenue streams to boost sales. This new form of tourism, which typically takes place in rural areas and which combines wine production with tourist activities, is becoming important for such regions by providing a complementary income source. It provides a model for sustainable economic development for these regions, which for various reasons may otherwise struggle to develop. Featuring cases and business implications from various locations, this book provides an important source of knowledge—both theoretical and practical—suitable to academics, scholars, researchers, and practitioners in the tourism sector and the wine industry.

Book Wine Positioning

Download or read book Wine Positioning written by Pierre Mora and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-11-27 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces readers to the concept and implementation of positioning techniques in the context of the wine industry. Featuring 30 case studies on brands and wine regions around the world - all based on the same principles - it presents a successful, cutting-edge strategy for the marketing of wine. Rather than focusing on a small group of elitist appellations, the Grand Crus universe and a handful of star brands, the book addresses the real, day-to-day wine world. In light of globalization, it introduces state-of-the-art wine positioning techniques, with an emphasis on the identity, segmentation and positioning of wine appellations and wine brands. In its analysis of wine appellation models, the book examines local parameters like geology, history and wine growing techniques; compares facts, figures and actors; analyzes the signals that are being sent to the market and presents a range of key factors for success. Similarly, the wine brands models are analyzed on the basis of their respective brand identity and apparent marketing policy. In the book’s final part, it summarizes recent developments in wine marketing, including the growing importance of wine brands as new territories in the global vineyard, and the role of appellations as the essence of cultural diversity.
