Book Rejected Or Suspended Applications for Revolutionary War Pensions with an Added Index to States

Download or read book Rejected Or Suspended Applications for Revolutionary War Pensions with an Added Index to States written by United States. Department of the Interior and published by Genealogical Publishing Com. This book was released on 1969 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This reprint of a rare United States Senate Document lists the names and residences of about 11,000 Revolutionary War soldiers and/or their widows who applied for pensions under the Acts of June 7, 1832, and July 7, 1838 and whose claims were rejected or suspended, along with the reasons. Most of the claims were for authentic service of actual Revolutionary soldiers but were rejected or suspended because the soldier did not serve for six months, his name did not appear on the rolls, or because a claim was suspended for further proof, such as proof of marriage. Still other claims were turned down on grounds of desertion, privateer service, or other service in a non-military category. The lists of suspended applications are arranged by states and thereunder by Act of Congress and category of rejection or suspension.

Download or read book Suspension of Benefits Under the Multiemployer Pension Reform Act of 2014 Us Internal Revenue Service Regulation Irs 2018 Edition written by The Law The Law Library and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-11-12 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Suspension of Benefits under the Multiemployer Pension Reform Act of 2014 (US Internal Revenue Service Regulation) (IRS) (2018 Edition) The Law Library presents the complete text of the Suspension of Benefits under the Multiemployer Pension Reform Act of 2014 (US Internal Revenue Service Regulation) (IRS) (2018 Edition). Updated as of May 29, 2018 This document contains temporary regulations relating to multiemployer pension plans that are projected to have insufficient funds, at some point in the future, to pay the full benefits to which individuals will be entitled under the plans (referred to as plans in "critical and declining status"). The Multiemployer Pension Reform Act of 2014 ("MPRA") amended the Internal Revenue Code to incorporate suspension of benefits provisions that permit these multiemployer plans to reduce pension benefits payable to participants and beneficiaries if certain conditions are satisfied. MPRA requires the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation and the Secretary of Labor, to approve or deny applications by these plans to reduce benefits. As required by MPRA, these temporary regulations, together with proposed regulations being published at the same time, provide guidance implementing these statutory provisions. These temporary regulations affect active, retired, and deferred vested participants and beneficiaries of multiemployer plans that are in critical and declining status as well as employers contributing to, and sponsors and administrators of, those plans. The text of these temporary regulations also serves, in part, as the text of the proposed regulations (REG-102648-15) set forth in the notice of proposed rulemaking on this subject in the Proposed Rules section of this issue of the Federal Register. This book contains: - The complete text of the Suspension of Benefits under the Multiemployer Pension Reform Act of 2014 (US Internal Revenue Service Regulation) (IRS) (2018 Edition) - A table of contents with the page number of each section

Book Reforming the Greek Pension System

Download or read book Reforming the Greek Pension System written by Mr. Alvar Kangur and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2021-07-16 with total page 26 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Greek pension system has been costly, complex, and distortive, which has contributed to Greece’s fiscal problems and discouraged labor force participation. Several attempts to reform the system faltered due to lack of implementation, pushback by vested interests, and court rulings leading to reversals. A series of reforms introduced throughout 2015–17 unified benefit and contribution rules, removed several distortions and reduced fragmentation and costs. If fully implemented throughout the long-term, these reforms can go a long way towards enhancing the pension system affordability. However, reforms faced setbacks and fell short of creating stronger incentives to build long contribution histories, to deliver sustainable growth by improving the fiscal policy mix, and to ensure fairness and equitable burden sharing across generations and interest groups. Policy priorities should aim towards fully implementing the 2015–17 reforms and complementing them with additional reforms to address these remaining objectives.
