Download or read book Take Care of Yourself written by Pablo Martinez and published by Hendrickson Publishers. This book was released on 2021-12-14 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “They made me take care of the vineyards, but my own vineyard I neglected.” (Song of Songs 1:6b) Paul urged Timothy to learn this vital principle when he was still young. It contains one of the keys in Christian work: If someone in ministry is not all right, the quality of their ministry will be affected. In Christian ministries, it is easy to find workers who never think of themselves. While selflessness is a Christlike trait, at times we can push ourselves too far, leading to the paradigm of stressed and burned-out people. In order to love God and serve others, we often need to be still, take a rest, and be refreshed. This book will help Christians find the balance between ministry and “monastery,” between the urgent work of service and the place of rest and restoration. Caring for our own “vineyard”—the talents, gifts, and emotional resources of our personality—is not only a privilege but a duty. It is part of good stewardship, an act of obedience as disciples of Christ. Far from being a sign of a more spiritual attitude, neglecting our own needs can be a serious mistake and even a sin.
Download or read book Surviving Sexual Violence written by Thema Bryant-Davis and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2011-10-16 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Victims of sexual assault experience their trauma in different ways, and often one path to recovery and healing is right for one person, but not right for another. While there are some general mental health effects of sexual violence, this book outlines and describes the impact of particular types of sexual violation. Whether the survivor has experienced childhood sexual abuse, sexual assault during adulthood, marital rape, sexual harassment, sex trafficking, or sexual violence within the military, they will find aspects of her experience in these pages. Once survivors understand the ways in which they have been affected, they are introduced to various pathways to surviving sexual violence and moving forward. The chapters provide case examples and specific activities which give a fuller description of the ways survivors can make use of the particular approaches, which include mind-body practices, counseling, group therapies, self-defense training, and others. Anyone who has been a victim of sexual violence, or knows and cares about someone who has, will find relief in these pages, which offer practical approaches to finding balance and healing.

Download or read book Doomsday Prepping and Survival written by Jaime Mera and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014-12-09 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Doomsday survival prepping is a lifestyle and hobby for many people hoping to survive a catastrophic event or events, also known as the apocalypse, which have yet to seriously reveal its ugly head. This book guides any person to have an aggressive mindset with a clear focus to beat the odds by increasing survivability through effective planning and execution of preparation and construction efforts. This book tells you what you should be doing, and not waste your time and money on efforts which will in the end fail or provide a very small victory. Super volcanoes, global destroying meteors, the economic breakdown of a country, and biblical proportions of the last days as depicted in Revelations (like plagues, years of famine, massive deaths of people and animals) are addressed and examined; but more importantly is how to effectively gather resources, focus your preparation efforts, execute a well rounded plan, and prevent people from taking away your life and dreams of a better future. You will learn the best ways to develop a dynamic group of survivalists and family of people, all set on the goal to survive and repopulate the planet if need be. Examples of good, very good, and bad and extremely bad prepping practices are shown along with solutions to problems most preppers run into or should encounter if the preparation efforts are being properly built on top of each other. This book looks at other resources like other books, movies, shows, and organizations to improve your knowledge base and connect you to the people you should interact with the most. You will know how to identify the best location for your safe haven (bunker) and how to best protect it. You will know what it takes to be an effective leader, how to follow, and how to train other leaders.

Download or read book Alive Surviving Modern Oncology written by Ann Gimpel and published by Ann Gimpel Books, LLC. This book was released on 2023-07-31 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cancer is a bitch of a disease. Every single person who’s experienced being diagnosed and treated is a hero. There are a lot of cancer books out there. What’s different about this one? Maybe nothing. Maybe a lot. I’m a psychologist by trade. About fifteen years back, I started writing novels. Unfortunately, there’s not a scrap of fiction in Alive. There are also no dragons, unicorns, or magical worlds. This book was tough to write. In places, it will be equally tough to read. In addition to my personal saga, it includes stories from other brave souls who volunteered to be part of this project. There are also chapters about the etiology of cancer, cancer as big business in America (and elsewhere), avoiding scams, and integrative oncology. Like most, I started my cancer journey believing the MDs had my best interests at heart. A few did, but to so many others I was nothing but a number, a statistic, many steps removed from a human being. My hope for Alive is it will empower others to stand up for themselves, to ask questions, to do their own research. Ultimately, everyone’s life is precious and worth the effort of self-advocacy.
