Book Microwave Frequency Surface Wave Delay Lines and Amplifiers

Download or read book Microwave Frequency Surface Wave Delay Lines and Amplifiers written by K. M. Lakin and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report details the research done on a four-year project involving the study of surface wave propagation and the growth and characterization of thin film materials as applied to microwave frequency surface acoustic wave delay lines and amplifiers. The report covers the two phases of the work separately in the form of a brief review of each topic referring to details contained in appendices. The report presents the complete details of the layered and leaky wave study along with the FORTRAN object listings of the major computer programs used in the study. The report presents the materials work in the form of reprints of published papers covering the topics of the growth and characterization of AlN/Al2O3 and Si/AlN/Al2O3. A brief discussion is given of other material combinations that were examined briefly and then abandoned in favor of more promising approaches. The report does not discuss devices such as delay line filters or amplifiers except as used to evaluate materials through coupling coefficient measurements or verification of acoustoelectric interactions. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of the program is to develop a large time-bandwidth product tapped delay line employing acoustic surface waves at microwave frequencies. The essential components of this device include tuned interdigital transducers, surface wave amplifiers and air gap couplers all operating at a center frequency of 1.0 GHz. The report describes achievements in each development area and includes measured data for a five tap 30 microsec long surface wave delay line. (Author).

Book Advances in Surface Acoustic Wave Technology Systems and Applications

Download or read book Advances in Surface Acoustic Wave Technology Systems and Applications written by Clemens C. W. Ruppel and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices are recognized for their versatility and efficiency in controlling and processing electrical signals. This has resulted in a multitude of device concepts for a wide range of signal processing functions, such as delay lines, filters, resonators, pulse compressors, convolvers, and many more. As SAW technology has found its way into mass market products such as TV receivers, pagers, keyless entry systems and cellular phones, the production volume has risen to millions of devices produced every day. At the other end of the scale, there are specialized high performance signal processing SAW devices for satellite communication and military applications, such as radar and electronic warfare. This volume, together with Volume 2, presents an overview of recent advances in SAW technology, systems and applications by some of the foremost researchers in this exciting field.

Book Acoustic Surface Wave Research

Download or read book Acoustic Surface Wave Research written by M. Chodorow and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New results are reported for wrap-around type delay lines, involving time delays of 2 milliseconds for passive lines without internal amplification, time delays of 20 milliseconds with internal surface wave amplifiers on large bismuth germanium oxide crystals, and demonstration of control of the threshold for noise buildup in such systems which is expected to lead to increased time delays in future devices. Internal experiments on a balanced-phase two-port configuration for wrap-around lines, designed to avoid bidirectional transducer losses, show the correct fringe pattern versus frequency. Results on electronically-tunable digital cross-correlation in a parametric surface acoustic wave device are presented which show improved conversion efficiency, reduced spurious levels, and good comparison of experiment and theory for Barker bi-phase codes up to 5 bits, and discrepancies in side lobe levels for larger number of bits, which are being investigated. Book Microwave Acoustics Handbook

Download or read book Microwave Acoustics Handbook written by A. J. Slobodnik (Jr.) and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 732 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Information essential for the design of acoustic surface wave filters, signal processors, and other miniature, low cost, reliable devices for use in communications and electronic sensing is given in this report. Computations of surface wave velocity and electromechanical power flow angle, and estimates of surface wave coupling to interdigital transducers are given for various orientations of the following surface wave substrate materials: Ba2NaNb5O15, Bi12GeO20, CdS, Diamond, Eu3Fe5O15, Gadolinium Gallium Garnet, GaAs, Germanium, InSb, InAs, PbS, LiNbO3, MgO, Quartz, Rutile, Sapphire, Silicon, Spinel, TeO2, YAG, YGaG, YIG, and ZnO. Particular cuts of interest are then chosen for more detailed numerical calculations of mechanical and electrical parameters governing acoustic wave propagation in crystalline media. Similar data is given for common metals. A list of material constants and a bibliography of 520 surface wave papers are also included. (Author).
