Book Supply Chain Performance Measurement Process for Thai Automotive Industry

Download or read book Supply Chain Performance Measurement Process for Thai Automotive Industry written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In current business environment, the importance of supply chain is broadly recognised, and there have been developments of performance measurement in the supply chain concepts from various points of view. However, there are some difficulties in implementation because of their complicated aproaches and some lacked measurement areas. In Thai automotive industry where small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) dominate, a comprehensive but easy to use supply chain performance measurement framework can be useful. Issues that should be addressed in the measurements for the industry include productivity, quality, human resource, and IT fundamental. In this thesis, a supply chain performance measurement framework is proposed. It development was based on previous performance measurement researches in different areas such as general performance measurement, performance measurement in supply chain environment, and performance measurement in SMEs. The framework aimed to measure the performance of supply chain from direct supplier to direct customer based on three different perspectives: responsible processes (based on Supply-Chain Operations References (SCOR)), measurement areas (based on supply chain focus), and managerial levels. The framework was tested at the operational level in a small automotive company in Thailand. It is expected that it will bring awareness of the supply chain concepts, and provides an initial step of the performance measurement and improvement process of supply chain to the case company and the industry in general.

Book Supply Chain Performance Measurement Framework

Download or read book Supply Chain Performance Measurement Framework written by Asawin Pasutham and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the most significant paradigm shifts of modern business management is that individual businesses no longer compete as solely autonomous entities, but rather as supply chains. Firms worldwide have embraced the concept of supply chain management as important and sometimes critical to their business. The idea of a collaborative supply chain is to gain a competitive advantage by improving overall performance through measuring a holistic perspective of the supply chain. However, contemporary performance measurement theory is somewhat fragmented and fails to support this idea. Therefore, this research develops and applies an integrated supply chain performance measurement framework that provides a more holistic approach to the study of supply chain performance measurement by combining both supply chain macro processes and decision making levels. Therefore, the proposed framework can provide a balanced horizontal (cross-process) and vertical (hierarchical decision) view and measure the performance of the entire supply chain system. Firstly, literature on performance measurement frameworks and performance measurement factors of supply chain management will help to develop a conceptual framework. Next the proposed framework will be presented. The framework will be validated through in-depth interviews with three Thai manufacturing companies. The fieldwork combined varied sources in order to understand the views of manufacturers on supply chain performance in the three case study companies. The collected data were analyzed, interpreted, and reported using thematic analysis and analysis hierarchy process (AHP), which was influenced by the study's conceptual framework. This research contributes a new theory of supply chain performance measurement and knowledge on supply chain characteristics of a developing country, Thailand. The research also affects organisations by preparing decision makers to make strategic, tactical and operational level decisions with respect to supply chain macro processes. The results from the case studies also indicate the similarities and differences in their supply chain performance. Furthermore, the implications of the study are offered for both academic and practical use.

Book Supply Chain Performance Collaboration and Stability Measurement

Download or read book Supply Chain Performance Collaboration and Stability Measurement written by Michael Seitz and published by VDM Publishing. This book was released on 2006 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Companies are competing in fast changing markets, characterised by high levels of variety and competition. Therefore they need two capabilities: the capability to understand their markets in terms of market drivers and market trends; and secondly the capability of a company and its supply chain to respond in a timely yet efficient manner. Managing such supply chains will be difficult without some degree of process integration and collaboration between supply chain partners. A first step is to know their own and that of their suppliers' performance capability. Michael Seitz's work was about constructing a performance measurement tool to identify the operational performance between adjacent members of a supply chain. The SCOR model was used as the basis of the Performance Measurement System. This was extended to include a Collaborative Index, an additional measurement which could assess the levels of supply chain integration and collaboration, and a Stability Index, which was developed to measure the robustness of the evaluated supply chain. This book is interesting for students and decision makers working in the area of supply chain who want to gain a deeper knowledge about measuring supply chain performance.

Book Determinants of Inter Organizational Performance in Automotive Supply Chain

Download or read book Determinants of Inter Organizational Performance in Automotive Supply Chain written by Achara Satayapaisal and published by . This book was released on 2017 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Activities related to performance are a crucial issue in automotive supply chains. With the scarce resources in highly competitive environment, the first step to improve supply chain performance is to know which characteristics of supply chain's performance (herein “performance attributes”) are critical and should be specially focused. The performances in this research are structured from the coarser level to the more detailed level as performance elements, performance indicators, and performance attributes. Eighty-eight performance attributes related to the first tier suppliers in the Thai automotive supply chain are determined. They focused on business performance element and intangible elements (namely learning and growth, internal process, external structure, and trust). The critical factor index (CFI) method is used for determining the critical performance attributes. The results were analyzed from the viewpoints of overall responses and three separate management functional groups; namely top management, factory managers, and sales/marketing managers. The results reveal that there are both similarities and differences in critical performance attributes in different functional areas. “Trust” and “business performance” performance elements are the most critical and should be focused on. The largest number of critical performance attributes found in the “trust” performance element, belonging to the “professional-relationship” performance indicator, which is the trust between firm's representatives and customers' representatives.

Book Multi Criteria Decision Making Techniques for Improvement Sustainability Engineering Processes

Download or read book Multi Criteria Decision Making Techniques for Improvement Sustainability Engineering Processes written by Edmundas Kazimieras Zavadskas and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-12-15 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The success of any activity and process depends fundamentally on the possibility of balancing (symmetry) needs and their satisfaction. That is, the ability to properly define a set of success indicators. The application of the developed new multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) methods can be eliminated or decreased by decision-makers’ subjectivity, which leads to consistency or symmetry in the weight values of the criteria. In this Special Issue, 40 research papers and one review study co-authored by 137 researchers from 23 different countries explore aspects of multi-criteria modeling and optimization in crisp or uncertain environments. The papers propose new approaches and elaborate case studies in the following areas of application: MCDM optimization in sustainable engineering, environmental sustainability in engineering processes, sustainable multi-criteria production and logistics processes planning, integrated approaches for modeling processes in engineering, new trends in the multi-criteria evaluation of sustainable processes, and multi-criteria decision-making in strategic management based on sustainable criteria.
