Download or read book Supplements to the Second Edition of Rodd s Chemistry of Carbon Compounds Vol III written by M. F. Ansell and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At a time when there are many specialist reviews, monographs and reports available, there is still an important place for a book such as Rodd'' which gives a broader coverage of organic chemistry. One aspect of the value of this work is that it allows an expert in one field to find out quickly what is happening in other fields of chemistry. On the other hand, a chemist looking for the way into a field of study will find within Rodd an outline of the important aspects of that area of chemistry, together with leading references to other works to provide more detailed information.

Book Fortschritte der Chemie organischer Naturstoffe Progress in the Chemistry of Organic Natural Products

Download or read book Fortschritte der Chemie organischer Naturstoffe Progress in the Chemistry of Organic Natural Products written by S. Garai and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1998-03-23 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Saponins are complex molecules made up of sugars linked to a triterpenoid or a steroid or a steroidal alkaloid. These natural products are attracting much attention in recent years because of the host of biological activities they exhibit. The diversity of structural features, the challenges of isolation because of their occurrence as complex mixtures, the pharmacological and biological activities still to be discovered, and the prospect of commercialization - these all are driving the study of saponins. Triterpenoid saponins are dominating constituents of this class and occur widely throughout the plant kingdom including some human foods e. g. beans, spinach, tomatoes, and potatoes, and animal feed e. g. alfalfa and clover. Saponins were initially a rather neglected· area of research primarily because of great difficulties in their isolation and characterization. With the advent of more sophisticated methods of isolation and structure elucidation through the last two decades, there has been increased interest in these natural products. Besides structure determination, research activities are now moving forward to clarify structure-activity relationships. Our previous reviews on triterpenoid saponins (l, 2) covered literature from 1979 to mid-1989. The literature on triterpenoid saponins up to 1988 has also been covered by two reviews by HILLER et at. (3, 4). This review incorporates newer trends in isolation and structure determination of triterpenoid saponins, new triterpenoid saponins isolated and biological properties of these products reported during the period late 1989-mid 1996. 2.

Book Information Sources in Chemistry

Download or read book Information Sources in Chemistry written by R. T. Bottle and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2011-12-01 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of each volume of this series Guides to Information Sources is to reduce the time which needs to be spent on patient searching and to recommend the best starting point and sources most likely to yield the desired information. The criteria for selection provide a way into a subject to those new to the field and assists in identifying major new or possibly unexplored sources to those who already have some acquaintance with it. The series attempts to achieve evaluation through a careful selection of sources and through the comments provided on those sources.

Download or read book Alicyclic Compounds written by Malcolm Sainsbury and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-24 with total page 541 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rodd's Chemistry of Carbon Compounds, Volume II: Alicyclic Compounds surveys advances in the chemistry of three- to six-membered monocarbocycles from 1973 to 1991. This book begins with a detailed review of the conformations and stereochemical analyses of alicycles, including higher members of the series, and then proceeds to deal with the chemistry of individual ring systems. The next chapters cover the prostaglandins and their allies and natural products bearing a cyclohexane, cyclohexene, or cyclohexadiene ring system. A review of the chemistry of the cyclohexadienes and their metallic complexes is provided at the end. This text also includes a list of common abbreviations and symbols. This volume benefits chemical engineering students, particularly those studying the components of organic chemicals.

Book Aliphatic Compounds

    Book Details:
  • Author : Malcolm Sainsbury
  • Publisher : Elsevier
  • Release : 2016-06-24
  • ISBN : 1483144658
  • Pages : 567 pages

Download or read book Aliphatic Compounds written by Malcolm Sainsbury and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-24 with total page 567 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rodd's Chemistry of Carbon Compounds, Volume I: Aliphatic Compounds focuses on the chemistry of polyhydric alcohols and saccharides. The chemistry of polyhydric alcohols is a vast and crucially important area, not only because of the prominent roles that polyols have in their own right, but because of the way they and their modified forms are incorporated into natural products. The topics covered include the analogues, derivatives, and oxidation products of trihydric and tetrahydric alcohols; phospholipids; polyhydric alcohols and their oxidation products; synthesis, chemistry, structure and physical properties, and use in the synthesis as chiral templates and asymmetric synthesis of natural products of monosaccharides; and disaccharides and oligosaccharides. This text also discusses the applications of carbohydrates as chiral auxiliaries, templates, and starting materials in syntheses. This volume is a useful reference for students and organic chemists.
