Download or read book Sight Singing Volume 1 written by Hans Oxmond and published by Oxmond Interactive. This book was released on 2012-10-12 with total page 45 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: SIGHT-SINGING is a modern ear training system, which makes use of solfège - undeniably the oldest and most recognized sight-reading method. By using this system, the student can learn to hear and sing a melody line, simply by reading the notes. The SIGHT-SINGING (vol. 1-3) books consist of more than 700 melodies and exercises. As you progress through the exercises, the difficulty will increase steadily. Very little prior knowledge is required of the student. Even if the book is used for independent study, with no help from a music teacher, the student need only know the names of the notes and how to find them on the piano. In this book (vol. 1), we will focus on the major pentatonic scale. In other words, we will begin our journey by practicing the syllables: do-re-mi-so-la. It is just five notes - but that is still enough to have a lot of fun. More information on http://www.sightsinging.com

Book Daily Sight singing Exercises

Download or read book Daily Sight singing Exercises written by LeeAnn Urlacher and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 70 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this study is to examine whether or not sight-singing every class period will improve sight-singing and music reading skills in third grade students. The students receiving additional practice will sight-sing daily by using worksheets, classroom assignments and participation, and the singing challenge music software... It was found that different students excelled in their sight-singing through different activities. Some students were more visual learners and "The Singing Coach" software helped them the most. Other students were more aural learners and liked the use of whistling and listening tubes in daily practicie. This helped them realize if they were singing the pitches in tune or not. Also, kinesthetic learners seemed to do better singing when they used the Curwen hand signs as they sang. The most important variable found through the research to help students want to achieve at sight-singing is by having students clearly understand the definition of sight-singing/reading and by making it fun to learn.--[p. 2, 19-20]
