Book Comparison of Experimental and Theoretical Static Aeroelastic Loads and Deflections of a Thin 45 Wing in Supersonic Flow

Download or read book Comparison of Experimental and Theoretical Static Aeroelastic Loads and Deflections of a Thin 45 Wing in Supersonic Flow written by Floyd V. Bennett and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wind tunnel tests showing the effects of static aeroelasticity for a thin 45° delta wing in supersonic flow are presented and compared with theory in the Mach number range 1.30 t o 4.00. Calculated deformations, normal-force coefficients, and pitching-moment coefficients based on a linearized potential theory for subsonic leading edges at a Mach number of 1.30 and a linearized potential theory for supersonic leading edges at Mach numbers of 1.64, 3.00, and 4.00 are shown to compare favorably with the wind-tunnel results.

Book Stability and Control

Download or read book Stability and Control written by Courtland D. Perkins and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-12 with total page 520 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Flight Testing, Volume II: Stability and Control focuses on the development of adequate flight test techniques for the appraisal of stability and control characteristics and flying qualities of airplanes. This book discusses the flying quality requirements, longitudinal motions, and flight determination of stick-fixed neutral points. The determination of aerodynamic parameters from steady maneuvering, desirable control characteristics in steady flight, and various forms of lateral control surfaces are also elaborated. This publication likewise covers the measurement of maximum lift coefficient, emergency anti-spin devices, and concept of the altitude-Mach number flight envelope. This volume is recommended for design, development or research engineers, test pilots, and instrumentation personnel interested in airplane stability and control.

Book Flight Stability and Automatic Control

Download or read book Flight Stability and Automatic Control written by Robert C. Nelson and published by WCB/McGraw-Hill. This book was released on 1998 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The second edition of Flight Stability and Automatic Control presents an organized introduction to the useful and relevant topics necessary for a flight stability and controls course. Not only is this text presented at the appropriate mathematical level, it also features standard terminology and nomenclature, along with expanded coverage of classical control theory, autopilot designs, and modern control theory. Through the use of extensive examples, problems, and historical notes, author Robert Nelson develops a concise and vital text for aircraft flight stability and control or flight dynamics courses.

Book Proceedings of Symposium on Aerothermoelasticity

Download or read book Proceedings of Symposium on Aerothermoelasticity written by David M. Jones and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 1028 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A symposium on Aerothermoelasticity was held to present the latest significant developments in each scientific area and engineering area that comprise the component parts of this technology. New and significant contributions were presented in four technical areas consisting of dynamic aerothermoelasticity (flutter), stability and control, thermodynamics and aerodynamics (or aerothermodynamics), and structures including material and construction concepts. Categories important and significant to each technical area are discussed state-of-the-art wise. In addition, 26 separate papers are given on items of special importance.
