Book Heat Transfer Virtual Lab for Students and Engineers

Download or read book Heat Transfer Virtual Lab for Students and Engineers written by Ella Fridman and published by Momentum Press. This book was released on 2014-09-15 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Laboratory experiments are a vital part of engineering education, which historically were considered impractical for distance learning. This book presents a guide for the practical employment of a heat transfer virtual lab for students and engineers. Inside, the authors have detailed this virtual lab which is designed and can implement a real-time, robust, and scalable software system that provides easy access to lab equipment anytime and anywhere over the Internet. They introduce and explain LabVIEW in easy-to-understand language. LabVIEW is a proprietary software tool by National Instruments, and can be used to develop fairly complex instrumentation systems (measurement and control). Fridman and Mahajan combined Internet capabilities with traditional laboratory exercises to create an ef cient environment to carry out interactive, on line lab experiments. Thus, the virtual lab can be used from a remote location as a part of a distance learning strategy. With this book, you’ll be capable of executing VIs (Virtual Instruments) speci cally developed for the experiment in question, providing you with great ability to control the remote instrument and to receive and present the desired experimental data.

  • Author : Wilfried Linder
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2013-06-29
  • ISBN : 3662067250
  • Pages : 199 pages

Download or read book Digital Photogrammetry written by Wilfried Linder and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Photogrammetry is a science based technology with more than a century of history and development. During this time, the techniques used to get information about objects represented in photos have changed dramatically from pure optic mechanical equipment to a fully digital workflow in our days. Parallel to this, the handling became easier, and so its possible also for non-photogrammetrists to use these methods today. This book is especially written for potential users which have no photogram metric education but would like to use the powerful capabilities from time to time or in smaller projects: Geographers, Geologists, Cartographers, Forest Engineers who would like to come into the fascinating field of photogrammetry via "learning by doing". For this reason, this book is not a textbook - for more and deeper the ory, there exists a lot ofliterature, and it is suggested to use some ofthis. A special recommendation should be given to the newest book from KONECNY (2002) for basic theory and the mathematical backgrounds or to the book from SCHENK (1999) for the particular situation in digital photogrammetry. For a quick reference especially to algorithms and technical terms see also the Photogrammetric Guide from ALBERTZ & KREILING (1989). This book includes a CD-ROM which contains all you need from software and data to learn about the various methods from the beginning (scanning of the pho tos) to final products like ortho images or mosaics.

Book Measures of Complexity and Chaos

Download or read book Measures of Complexity and Chaos written by Neal B. Abraham and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 466 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume serves as a general introduction to the state of the art of quantitatively characterizing chaotic and turbulent behavior. It is the outgrowth of an international workshop on "Quantitative Measures of Dynamical Complexity and Chaos" held at Bryn Mawr College, June 22-24, 1989. The workshop was co-sponsored by the Naval Air Development Center in Warminster, PA and by the NATO Scientific Affairs Programme through its special program on Chaos and Complexity. Meetings on this subject have occurred regularly since the NATO workshop held in June 1983 at Haverford College only two kilometers distant from the site of this latest in the series. At that first meeting, organized by J. Gollub and H. Swinney, quantitative tests for nonlinear dynamics and chaotic behavior were debated and promoted [1). In the six years since, the methods for dimension, entropy and Lyapunov exponent calculations have been applied in many disciplines and the procedures have been refined. Since then it has been necessary to demonstrate quantitatively that a signal is chaotic rather than it being acceptable to observe that "it looks chaotic". Other related meetings have included the Pecos River Ranch meeting in September 1985 of G. Mayer Kress [2) and the reflective and forward looking gathering near Jerusalem organized by M. Shapiro and I. Procaccia in December 1986 [3). This meeting was proof that interest in measuring chaotic and turbulent signals is widespread.

Book The Hubbard Model

    Book Details:
  • Author : Dionys Baeriswyl
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media

Download or read book The Hubbard Model written by Dionys Baeriswyl and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-11-11 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the slightly more than thirty years since its formulation, the Hubbard model has become a central component of modern many-body physics. It provides a paradigm for strongly correlated, interacting electronic systems and offers insights not only into the general underlying mathematical structure of many-body systems but also into the experimental behavior of many novel electronic materials. In condensed matter physics, the Hubbard model represents the simplest theoret ical framework for describing interacting electrons in a crystal lattice. Containing only two explicit parameters - the ratio ("Ujt") between the Coulomb repulsion and the kinetic energy of the electrons, and the filling (p) of the available electronic band - and one implicit parameter - the structure of the underlying lattice - it appears nonetheless capable of capturing behavior ranging from metallic to insulating and from magnetism to superconductivity. Introduced originally as a model of magnetism of transition met als, the Hubbard model has seen a spectacular recent renaissance in connection with possible applications to high-Tc superconductivity, for which particular emphasis has been placed on the phase diagram of the two-dimensional variant of the model. In mathematical physics, the Hubbard model has also had an essential role. The solution by Lieb and Wu of the one-dimensional Hubbard model by Bethe Ansatz provided the stimulus for a broad and continuing effort to study "solvable" many-body models. In higher dimensions, there have been important but isolated exact results (e. g. , N agoaka's Theorem).

Download or read book DX Centers written by Elias Munoz Merino and published by Trans Tech Publications Ltd. This book was released on 1994-02-02 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the last 25 years, the behavior of donors in III-V alloys has been the subject of a very extensive research effort. The research emphasis on AlGaAs compounds is motivated by the industrial importance of AlGaAs/GaAs heterojunction based devices. As seeing it now, "the DX center problem", the behavior of donors in III-V alloys, has shown to be unexpectedly difficult to understand. To determine the microscopic nature of the DX center is still a challenging problem.
