Book Supercharging the Workforce for the New Year

Download or read book Supercharging the Workforce for the New Year written by Iloki Siziba and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017-12-27 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a record of the presentation I did at another company. The purpose of recording this presentation and publishing it is to assist management of any other company to structure the delivery of messages to supercharge their employees especially after a long holiday break. The company can then customize it and also create a few activities in between that cultivate interest and team work as well as building internal relationships. Mend all the broken bridges. Employees tend start the year with a "hangover" and this takes part of the company's precious time that could have been used productively. Some come having forgotten everything including passwords. Some come with resentment to work which causes serious and costly mistakes. Some just take long to crank into full gear yet others would be thinking of jumping ship altogether. That is not healthy for the business. Many companies have been noticing this challenge but had no idea how to solve it. So, how you open your year is very critical in terms of what you communicate to your employees and the mood or tone that you set going forward. It is no longer about, "Hey guys welcome back from holidays go to work" It is about imparting the right amount of positivity and optimism. It is about instilling healthy competition and building mutually beneficial internal relationships. It is about "ceding" control of the company to the employees. They must be proud of their company and love it and they must feel assured of job security and that this security lies in their hands. They must know that they all have equal opportunities for success. This carefully crafted presentation has all the ingredients to turn-on an idle workforce and supercharge it for the full year with positive contagious energy. ENJOY

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The so called 'new reality' is here and it is here to stay. The 'new normal' is a reality with a mix of home, mobile, and classic office environment. We run a software and consulting house serving clients around the world and when the pandemic hit in 2020, we had to adjust quickly. In the beginning uncertainty about future was strong, and we had to change the way how we do business. Our consulting teams changed from 41% remote consulting to 98% remote consulting. And did not lose one client. On the software side, we have been lucky as our solution improves data collaboration in remote settings, we benefited winning new partners and clients. Based on our own experience, many conversations within the team (yes, we also had to home school), with clients, partners and by an active sounding of the market we decided to put this book together. What this book is not is a scientific review of work behavior and a description of productivity losses and gains. The book was planned as the ultimate practical guide to navigate the Modern Workplace. The three chapters structure the book in a first part where we gather some facts and figures on the quick changes caused by the pandemic. In the second chapter we give helpful tips and advice on how to work remotely and finally we gathered ideas how to lead yourself and others within the 'new reality'. We hope you enjoy the reading.

Book Supercharging Your Workforce

Download or read book Supercharging Your Workforce written by Arezou Haraff and published by . This book was released on 2021-01-27 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are you interested in wellness at work, employee well-being, and how to keep employees productive, healthy, and happy? We are, too. The science of helping organizations grow their people resources in a way that helps the people grow while also aligning them with the organization so that as the people grow, the organization also grows is known as Organizational Development. Typically, this area is considered the arena of Industrial and Organizational Psychologists, but as we work to adapt our organizations to new generations of employees with different goals and priorities, this arena has grown in relevance to the everyday work that frontline people from CEOs, to HR managers, to "Shared Services" or "People" managers are doing. One Fortune 500 Company found that one employee program provided a staggering 1000% ROI. While extreme, this example demonstrates that strategic wellbeing programs that look at the overall needs of employees rather than focusing solely on health can deliver great returns. Is your organization capitalizing on this?Hi! We are Dr. Alice Vo Edwards and Dr. Arezou Harraf. You can read more about us and our work at the end of this book, but suffice to say, we have over 30 years of organizational development and HR management experience under our belts, and we want to help you help your organization thrive. This is not a fluff book that's going to talk about lots of touchy-feely stuff, get you excited, then leave you floundering - wondering how the hell to implement this cool stuff in your organization. This is not a cotton-candy book. This book is pure protein. We're going to help you exercise some mental muscle gaining an understanding of the overall process, and provide our proposed method for how you can create a plan that is based on science, focused on iterative evaluation, and being able to demonstrate return on investment for the time and money you put into developing it. If you already have workplace wellbeing plans in place, using our methods of planning and evaluating your current programs will also help you gain measurable, meaningful insights into your programs. This book is designed as an action-oriented instructional guide and workbook that can guide you, as the individual tasked with coming up with a plan for improvement for your organization. In it, yes, you will learn what other organizations have been doing, how it is scientifically valid and not just a waste of your company's money or a PR stunt, but you will also be walked through the process of identifying a business plan for what programs would be the best for you to try in your company, how to plan for success, how to evaluate how successful your program was, and how to report on the results so you look good, your program looks great, and you can add more and make it even better, next year.By the end of this book, you will: *Develop a better understanding of wellbeing*Understand organizational components that impact employees overall wellbeing*Understand different interventions that are useful in this realm*Learn how to measure and monitor employee wellbeing*Understand the strategic link between employee wellbeing and productivity*Learn to use the Well@WorkPlan(TM) Method

Download or read book The Long Year written by Thomas J. Sugrue and published by Columbia University Press. This book was released on 2022-01-25 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some years—1789, 1929, 1989—change the world suddenly. Or do they? In 2020, a pandemic converged with an economic collapse, inequalities exploded, and institutions weakened. Yet these crises sprang not from new risks but from known dangers. The world—like many patients—met 2020 with a host of preexisting conditions, which together tilted the odds toward disaster. Perhaps 2020 wasn’t the year the world changed; perhaps it was simply the moment the world finally understood its deadly diagnosis. In The Long Year, some of the world’s most incisive thinkers excavate 2020’s buried crises, revealing how they must be confronted in order to achieve a more equal future. Keeanga-Yamahtta Taylor calls for the defunding of police and the refunding of communities; Keisha Blain demonstrates why the battle against racism must be global; and Adam Tooze reveals that COVID-19 hit hardest where inequality was already greatest and welfare states weakest. Yarimar Bonilla, Xiaowei Wang, Simon Balto, Marcia Chatelain, Gautam Bhan, Ananya Roy, and others offer insights from the factory farms of China to the elite resorts of France, the meatpacking plants of the Midwest to the overcrowded hospitals of India. The definitive guide to these ongoing catastrophes, The Long Year shows that only by exposing the roots and ramifications of 2020 can another such breakdown be prevented. It is made possible through institutional partnerships with Public Books and the Social Science Research Council.

Book The Essential First Year

Download or read book The Essential First Year written by Penelope Leach and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2010-04-19 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As many of us become parents at a later stage, when our adult lives are well established, the arrival of a baby brings an unpredictability that can be hard to cope with. Those who are used to managing their time in the workplace can be tempted to try to manage their infant in the same way. So-called "controlled crying" has been recommended by many recent childcare guides, but parents should be aware of the high cost of such methods to their baby. In The Essential First Year Penelope Leach shows parents how they can reach a harmonious balance between their baby's needs and their own. While babies and their needs have not changed, our lifestyles have, and Penelope Leach has written the perfect manual for busy 21st century parents, which spans from pregnancy to the child's first birthday. The book is a gentle, but timely reminder that the fundamental purpose of having children is to share happiness. The happier a baby is, the more parents will enjoy being with him or her; being responsive to one's baby does not mean that it has to be at personal expense - the happiness of parents and baby is inextricably intertwined. The Essential First Year is not just full of sensible, practical advice, it is backed by more than ten years of new research into infant development, especially in brain growth, which now confirms, for instance, just how much fathers matter to their infant's progress, how girls' and boys' brains are different at birth (anddevelop differently) and how helping a baby to be calm, contented, amused, and interested leads to optimum development of body and brain. Using such information, Penelope Leach shows parents how to deal with problems as well as how to prevent them. Every parent wants to do the best for their baby and for the child that the baby will become. The Essential First Year gives parents the knowledge and the tools to nurture and care for every aspect of their infant's life - to meet the baby's physical needs, to stimulate their intellectual development and ensure their emotional well-being - and most importantly, The Essential First Year helps parents to simply enjoy being parents.
