Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • From one of the world’s most influential spiritual thinkers, a long-awaited book exploring what it means that Jesus was called “Christ,” and how this forgotten truth can restore hope and meaning to our lives. “Anyone who strives to put their faith into action will find encouragement and inspiration in the pages of this book.”—Melinda Gates In his decades as a globally recognized teacher, Richard Rohr has helped millions realize what is at stake in matters of faith and spirituality. Yet Rohr has never written on the most perennially talked about topic in Christianity: Jesus. Most know who Jesus was, but who was Christ? Is the word simply Jesus’s last name? Too often, Rohr writes, our understandings have been limited by culture, religious debate, and the human tendency to put ourselves at the center. Drawing on scripture, history, and spiritual practice, Rohr articulates a transformative view of Jesus Christ as a portrait of God’s constant, unfolding work in the world. “God loves things by becoming them,” he writes, and Jesus’s life was meant to declare that humanity has never been separate from God—except by its own negative choice. When we recover this fundamental truth, faith becomes less about proving Jesus was God, and more about learning to recognize the Creator’s presence all around us, and in everyone we meet. Thought-provoking, practical, and full of deep hope and vision, The Universal Christ is a landmark book from one of our most beloved spiritual writers, and an invitation to contemplate how God liberates and loves all that is.

Book Jesus Christ after Two Thousand Years

Download or read book Jesus Christ after Two Thousand Years written by Frank O'Hara and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2013-10-01 with total page 151 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work proposes the model of translation for the incarnation. According to this model, in Jesus Christ the eternal Word of God was translated into human flesh and form. Thus in Jesus Christ the invisible became visible, the inaudible became audible, the intangible became tangible, and the impalpable became palpable (cf. I John 1:1-4). This translation is brought about inasmuch as the heart of Jesus is the heart of the Word-made-flesh because it is the heart-of-the-Word made flesh. All the sentiments of the Word towards his Father, towards the Holy Spirit, and towards the whole of creation find expression in the human heart of Jesus Christ. The very being of the Word is thus expressed for us in the humanity of Jesus. That humanity is taken up into and hypostatically united to the Word of God through the medium of Word-consciousness, namely the consciousness in the human mind of Jesus of being the Word expressed in human form.

Book Envisioning the Cosmic Body of Christ

Download or read book Envisioning the Cosmic Body of Christ written by Aurica Jax and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-08-19 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The metaphor of the cosmos as the Body of Christ offers an opportunity to escape the aporias of standard Body of Christ imagery, which has often proved anthropocentric, exclusivist, triumphalist and/or sexist in the analyses of classical theologies. The body motif in particular contains starting points for current body discourses of gender-sensitive and ecological theologies, especially in their mutual overlaps. This book offers a critical evaluation of the prospects and boundaries of an updated metaphor of the Body of Christ, especially in its cosmic dimension. The first part of the book addresses the complex tradition in which the universal dimension of cosmological Christologies is located, including the thinking of the Apostles Paul and John, Origen, Cusanus, Teilhard de Chardin, McFague, and Panikkar. In the second part of the book, representatives of various innovative concepts will contribute to the anthology. This is a wide-ranging study of the implications of a new cosmic Body of Christ. As such, it will be of interest to academics working in Religion and Gender, Religion and the Environment, Theology and Christology.

But if you do not show love, you will not be blessed with love. Whatever you choose to do, the power lies in your hands. This book is 100 percent love from Christ. So my fellow, I ask you one more question: Where are you going? Jesus’ love or the love of hate?

Book God s Intelligent Design for Christ Centered Spiritual Transformation

Download or read book God s Intelligent Design for Christ Centered Spiritual Transformation written by Eric vonAnderseck and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2016-11-03 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When the Holy Spirit directed me to write this thesis it was after God had implemented the changes and corrections for the church and believers began to benefit fully from the transition. I hope you will be blessed by the many wonderful testimonies throughout. The apostolic thesis is the first of its kind. Not only does the Holy Spirit explain faith crisis and spiritual exploitation, but also uncovers the underlying root causes. God is addressing a faith in crisis, a spiritual government in crisis, and belief systems that He did not authorize or sanctify in the name of Jesus Christ. The church had suffered under the hands of many spiritual butchers, slicing and dicing faith this way and that. Each area of spiritual exploitation has had a catastrophic and blinding influence on all facets of Christian life. Believers were led into a very confusing era. Ministers were constantly rehashing faith programs as they sorted out their own failings, reducing covenant to a psychology. Ideas were tabled as quickly as they were introduced. Thankfully, the church has now entered into a new apostolic era. God has restored His true culture of faith and heritage to the church, helping believers understand once again the apostolic authority, calling, and anointing.
