Download or read book Musical Creativity written by Irène Deliège and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2006-10-16 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection initiates a resolutely interdisciplinary research dynamic specifically concerning musical creativity. Creativity is one of the most challenging issues currently facing scientific psychology and its study has been relatively rare in the cognitive sciences, especially in artificial intelligence. This book will address the need for a coherent and thorough exploration. Musical Creativity: Multidisciplinary Research in Theory and Practice comprises seven sections, each viewing musical creativity from a different scientific vantage point, from the philosophy of computer modelling, through music education, interpretation, neuroscience, and music therapy, to experimental psychology. Each section contains discussions by eminent international specialists of the issues raised, and the book concludes with a postlude discussing how we can understand creativity in the work of eminent composer, Jonathan Harvey. This unique volume presents an up-to-date snapshot of the scientific study of musical creativity, in conjunction with ESCOM (the European Society for the Cognitive Sciences of Music). Describing many of the different aspects of musical creativity and their study, it will form a useful springboard for further such study in future years, and will be of interest to academics and practitioners in music, psychology, cognitive science, artificial intelligence, neuroscience and other fields concerning the study of human cognition in this most human of behaviours.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Roy Harris’s thoroughgoing attack on the presuppositions underpinning the dominant traditions of Western thought about language, and his advocacy of a radically reconceived linguistics focused on the idea that the linguistic sign is contextually created and interpreted as a function of the meaningful integration of communicative behaviour, have made him one of the most controversial figures in the field today. In the essays in this volume Naomi S. Baron, Bob Borsley, Philip Carr, David Fleming, Rom Harré, Anthony Holiday, John E. Joseph, Frederick J. Newmeyer, David R. Olson, Trevor Pateman, John Sören Pettersson and John R. Taylor offer a critical examination of various aspects and implications of Harris’s views, in reponse to which Harris contributes an article that both engages with his critics and develops some of the major themes of his work.
Download or read book The Oxford Handbook of Early Childhood Learning and Development in Music written by Head of the Sir Zelman Cowen School of Music Margaret S Barrett and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2023-11-15 with total page 1073 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Investigation of the role of music in early life and learning has been somewhat fragmented, with studies being undertaken within a range of fields with little apparent conversation across disciplinary boundaries, and with an emphasis on pre-schoolers' and school-aged childrens' learning and engagement. The Oxford Handbook of Early Childhood Learning and Development in Music brings together leading researchers in infant and early childhood cognition, music education, music therapy, neuroscience, cultural and developmental psychology, and music sociology to interrogate questions of how our capacity for music develops from birth, and its contributions to learning and development. Researchers in cultural psychology and sociology of musical childhoods investigate those factors that shape children's musical learning and development and the places and spaces in which children encounter and engage with music. These issues are complemented with consideration of the policy environment at local, national and global levels in relation to music early learning and development and the ways in which these shape young children's music experiences and opportunities. The volume also explores issues of music provision and developmental contributions for children with Special Education Needs, children living in medical settings and participating in music therapy, and those living in sites of trauma and conflict. Consideration of these environments provides a context to examine music learning and development in family, community and school settings including general and specialized school environments. Authors trace the trajectories of development within and across cultures and settings and in that process identify those factors that facilitate or constrain children's early music learning and development.
Download or read book Filosofia della musica written by Giovanni Piana and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-01-03 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Download or read book Teoria del sogno e dramma musicale La metafisica della musica di Schopenhauer written by Giovanni Piana and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-01-02 with total page 145 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Problemi di estetica e di teoria musicale written by Giovanni Piana and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-01-19 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Download or read book Music and Esotericism written by Laurence Wuidar and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2010-05-15 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This collection of essays analyzes the relationships that exist between esotericism and music from Antiquity to the 20th century, investigating ways in which magic, astrology, alchemy, divination, and cabbala interact with music. The volume seeks to dissolve artificial barriers between the history of art, music, science, and intellectual history by establishing an interdisciplinary dialogue about music as viewed against a specific cultural background. The synthesis of scientific and historical contexts with respect to music, explored here on a large scale for the first time, opens up a wealth of new approaches to music historical research, music performance, and musical composition. Each chapter presents either a unique example of music functioning within esoteric and scientific traditions or a demonstration of the influence of those traditions upon selected musical works.

Download or read book Saggi di filosofia della musica written by Giovanni Piana and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2013-01-14 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
