Book Summary of Numerical Analyses of the Effect of W A in Earth Penetration

Download or read book Summary of Numerical Analyses of the Effect of W A in Earth Penetration written by Mark H. Wagner and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A series of three finite-difference WAVE-L code solutions of projectile penetration has been conducted to assess the effect of projectile sectional pressure (W/A) on penetration dynamics. The analysis of the third case is presented in this report, using comparisons with the results of the first two cases, which were analyzed in a previous program. The program results are being used in an investigation of penetration scaling relations under way at the U.S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station.

Book Three Dimensional Numerical Analyses of Earth Penetration Dynamics

Download or read book Three Dimensional Numerical Analyses of Earth Penetration Dynamics written by Y. Marvin Ito and published by . This book was released on 1979 with total page 93 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new three-dimensional numerical code, TRIFLE, is described which provides, for the first time, a rigorous yet efficient analytical tool to investigate the penetration dynamics of semi-rigid projectiles under asymmetric (non-normal) impact conditions. This is a key development since most real impacts and penetrations involve at least some degree of both yaw and obliquity, and since small degrees of asymmetry can have significant effects on the design environment of earth penetrating systems. In the TRIFLE code formulation, the full three-dimensional equations of motion are solved using a moving polar cylindrical coordinate reference frame aligned with the projectile, a Fourier representation of circumferential variation to couple together several r-z finite-difference planes in the target media, an arbitrary Lagrangian/Eulerian transformation to allow these planes to remain planes, and a momentum exchange procedure to determine forces on the penetrator. The circumferential Fourier representation in TRIFLE provides highest resolution near the penetrator, and hence, TRIFLE is more efficient and practical than a three-dimensional cartesian finite-difference formulation.

Book Explosive Loading of Engineering Structures

Download or read book Explosive Loading of Engineering Structures written by P.S. Bulson and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1997-07-24 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book reviews the development of research into the explosive loading of structures, mainly since the beginning of the twentieth century. Major contributions in the fields of measurement, analysis and prediction are discussed. Dynamic loading from conventional high explosives is examined, as well as the effects of liquid propellant, dust, gas, v

Book Enhancements in Applied Geomechanics Mining and Excavation Simulation and Analysis

Download or read book Enhancements in Applied Geomechanics Mining and Excavation Simulation and Analysis written by Adam Sevi and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-07-11 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book presents a compilation of studies regarding applied geomechanics, mining, and excavation analysis and simulation. The material is suitable for presentation to senior undergraduate and post-graduate students in both mining and geological engineering. It should also be of interest to students of other aspects of Geomechanics and, notably, engineering geologists interested in mining and underground excavation design. Practising mining engineers and rock mechanics engineers involved in mine design may use the book profitably to obtain an appreciation of the current state of engineering knowledge in their area of specialisation. Papers were selected from the 5th GeoChina International Conference on Civil Infrastructures Confronting Severe Weathers and Climate Changes: From Failure to Sustainability, held in July 23-25, 2018 in Hang Zhou, China.

Book Analysis and Design of Geotechnical Structures

Download or read book Analysis and Design of Geotechnical Structures written by Manuel Matos Fernandes and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-08-27 with total page 674 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Analysis and design of geotechnical structures combines, in a single endeavor, a textbook to assist students in understanding the behavior of the main geotechnical works and a guide for practising geotechnical engineers, designers, and consultants. The subjects are treated in line with limit state design, which underpins the Eurocodes and most North America design codes. Instructors and students will value innovative approaches to numerous issues refined by the experience of the author in teaching generations of enthusiastic students. Professionals will gain from its comprehensive treatment of the topics covered in each chapter, supplemented by a plethora of informative material used by consultants and designers. For the benefit of both academics and professionals, conceptual exercises and practical geotechnical design problems are proposed at the end of most chapters. A final annex includes detailed resolutions of the exercises and problems.
