Book Modern Korean Literature

Download or read book Modern Korean Literature written by Chung Chong-Wha and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-10-12 with total page 503 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The sixth book in Kegan Paul International's "Korean Culture Series", this volume contains thirty stories that have been selected on the basis of historical interest and literary worth, each representing a monumental moment in the history of Korean Literature. The ten stories in the first part share the common theme of the Korean experience of the confrontation between man and woman; in some stories the relationship is portrayed as innocent and pure, in others the relationship becomes more sophisticated and complex. The ten stories in the second part all deal with old Korean or the old Korean way of life - the Korea of byegone days, which is gradually disappearing in the face of industrialization and internationalization. The third group of stories reveals modern Korea in the process of change during the period of the Japanese Occupation, the liberation from the Occupation, and the Korean War. All thirty stories may serve as social documents. From the time of ideological chaos following the independence of Korea in 1945 up to the fall of the USSR in the 1980s, modern Korean literature has been powerfully swayed by Marxist ideology one way or another. Literature has an important role to play in its portrayal of the relations between society and individual people, and it has a particularly vital social function in developing or undeveloped countries. However, the stories in this anthology are not just historical documents. They represent the peak of literary achievements by great and gifted writers in the first half of this century. It is remarkable to find so many talented writers producing so many powerful works of art in a short span of just over 50 years between 1908 and 1965. This anthology is an invitation to readers to grasp how much Korea has attained in the process of its modernization. The authors whose works appear in this volume are: Yi Kwang-su, Kim Dong-in, Hyun Chin-kon, Yi Hyo-suk, Kim Yu-jong, Yi Sang, Kim Dong-ni, O Yung-su, Hwang Sun-won, Sohn, So-hi, Hahn Mu-suk, Sunwu Hwi, Kang Shin-jae, Oh Sang-won, Suh Ki-won, Han Mal-suk, Choi In-hun, Kim sung-ok, Yi Mun-ku.

Book Iterative Learning Control

Download or read book Iterative Learning Control written by Zeungnam Bien and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Iterative Learning Control (ILC) differs from most existing control methods in the sense that, it exploits every possibility to incorporate past control informa tion, such as tracking errors and control input signals, into the construction of the present control action. There are two phases in Iterative Learning Control: first the long term memory components are used to store past control infor mation, then the stored control information is fused in a certain manner so as to ensure that the system meets control specifications such as convergence, robustness, etc. It is worth pointing out that, those control specifications may not be easily satisfied by other control methods as they require more prior knowledge of the process in the stage of the controller design. ILC requires much less information of the system variations to yield the desired dynamic be haviors. Due to its simplicity and effectiveness, ILC has received considerable attention and applications in many areas for the past one and half decades. Most contributions have been focused on developing new ILC algorithms with property analysis. Since 1992, the research in ILC has progressed by leaps and bounds. On one hand, substantial work has been conducted and reported in the core area of developing and analyzing new ILC algorithms. On the other hand, researchers have realized that integration of ILC with other control techniques may give rise to better controllers that exhibit desired performance which is impossible by any individual approach.

Book Evidential Systems of Tibetan Languages

Download or read book Evidential Systems of Tibetan Languages written by Lauren Gawne and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2017-04-24 with total page 478 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited volume brings together work on the evidential systems of Tibetan languages. This includes diachronic research, synchronic description of systems in individual Tibetan varieties and papers addressing broader theoretical or typological questions. Evidentiality in Tibetan languages interacts with other features of modality, interactional context and speaker knowledge states in ways that provide important perspectives for typologists and our general understanding of evidential systems. This book provides the first sustained attempt to capture this complexity and diversity from both a synchronic and diachronic perspective.

Book Green Internet of Things IoT Energy Efficiency Perspective

Download or read book Green Internet of Things IoT Energy Efficiency Perspective written by Zhenyu Zhou and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-02-15 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Energy efficiency issues for green internet of things (IoT) are investigated in this book, from the perspectives of device-to-device (D2D) communications, machine-to-machine (M2M) communications, and air-ground networks. Specifically, critical green IoT techniques from D2D communications in the cellular network to M2M communications in industrial IoT (IIoT), (from single physical-layer optimization to cross-layer optimization, and from single-layer ground networks to stereoscopic air-ground networks) are discussed in both theoretical problem formulation and simulation result analysis in this book. Internet of Things (IoT) offers a platform that enables sensors and devices to connect seamlessly in an intelligent environment, thus providing intelligence services including monitoring systems, industrial automation, and ultimately smart cities. However, the huge potentials of IoT are constrained by high energy consumption, limited battery capacity, and the slow progress of battery technology. The high energy consumption of IoT device causes communication interruption, information loss, and short network lifetime. Moreover, once deployed, the batteries inside IoT devices cannot be replaced in time. Therefore, energy efficient resource allocation is urgent to be investigated to improve the energy efficiency of IoT, facilitate green IoT, and extend the network lifetime. This book provides readers with a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art key technologies, frameworks, related optimization algorithms, and corresponding integrated designs on green IoT. It also presents an easy-to-understand style in a professional manner, making the book suitable for a wider range of readers from students to professionals interested in the green IoT.

Book Iterative Learning Control with Passive Incomplete Information

Download or read book Iterative Learning Control with Passive Incomplete Information written by Dong Shen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-04-16 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents an in-depth discussion of iterative learning control (ILC) with passive incomplete information, highlighting the incomplete input and output data resulting from practical factors such as data dropout, transmission disorder, communication delay, etc.—a cutting-edge topic in connection with the practical applications of ILC. It describes in detail three data dropout models: the random sequence model, Bernoulli variable model, and Markov chain model—for both linear and nonlinear stochastic systems. Further, it proposes and analyzes two major compensation algorithms for the incomplete data, namely, the intermittent update algorithm and successive update algorithm. Incomplete information environments include random data dropout, random communication delay, random iteration-varying lengths, and other communication constraints. With numerous intuitive figures to make the content more accessible, the book explores several potential solutions to this topic, ensuring that readers are not only introduced to the latest advances in ILC for systems with random factors, but also gain an in-depth understanding of the intrinsic relationship between incomplete information environments and essential tracking performance. It is a valuable resource for academics and engineers, as well as graduate students who are interested in learning about control, data-driven control, networked control systems, and related fields.
