Book Subsurface Brines and Soluble Salts of Subsurface Sediment Sevier Lake Millard County Utah

Download or read book Subsurface Brines and Soluble Salts of Subsurface Sediment Sevier Lake Millard County Utah written by James Arthur Whelan and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three shallow holes were drilled by the Utah Geological and Mineralogical Survey on the west side of Sevier Lake in August 1966. Brines with slightly under 200 grams per liter dissolved solids were encountered. The brines contain relatively more sulfate and lithium and relatively less chlorine, magnesium, and bromine than oceanic brines. The calcium and sulfate content of the brines increases toward the center of the lake in the north-south direction.

Book Ground water Sensitivity and Vulnerability to Pesticides the Southern Sevier Desert and Pahvant Valley Millard County Utah

Download or read book Ground water Sensitivity and Vulnerability to Pesticides the Southern Sevier Desert and Pahvant Valley Millard County Utah written by Mike Lowe and published by Utah Geological Survey. This book was released on 2003 with total page 33 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has recommended that states develop Pesticide Management Plans for four agricultural chemicals - alachlor, atrazine, metolachlor, and simazine - used in Utah as herbicides in the production of corn and sorghum, and to control weeds and undesired vegetation (such as along right-of-ways or utility substations). This report and accompanying maps are intended to be used as part of these Pesticide Management Plans to provide local, state, and federal government agencies and agricultural pesticide users with a base of information concerning sensitivity and vulnerability of ground water in the basin-fill aquifer (bedrock is not evaluated) to agricultural pesticides in the southern Sevier Desert and Pahvant Valley, Millard County, Utah. We used existing data to produce pesticide sensitivity and vulnerability maps by applying an attribute ranking system specifically tailored to the western United States using Geographic Information System analysis methods. 28 pages + 2 plates
