Book excerpt: Excerpt from Substance and Function, and Einstein's Theory of Relativity The investigations contained in this volume were first prompted by studies in the philosophy oi_ mathematics. In the course of an attempt to comprehend the fundamental conceptions of mathematics from the point of view of logic, it became necessary to analyse more closely the function of the concept itself and to trace it back to its presuppositions. Here, however, a peculiar difficulty arose: the traditional logic of the concept, in its well-known features, proved inadequate even to characterize the problems to which the theory of the principles of mathematics led. It became increasingly evident that exact science had here reached questions for which there existed no precise correlate in the traditional language of formal logic. The content of mathematical knowledge pointed back to a fundamental form of the concept not clearly defined and recognized within logic itself. In particular, investigations concerning the concepts of the series and of the limit, the special results of which, however, could not be included in the general exposition of this book, con firmed this view and led to a renewed analysis of the principles of the construction of concepts in general. Download or read book Einstein s Relativity The Special Theory and The General Theory Chapter 1 written by Albert Einstein and published by Nutty Physics. This book was released on 2024-10-01 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Einstein's Relativity - The Best Introduction to the Theory of Relativity! - Chapter 1: Geometry and Physics - Written by Einstein himself for the popular audience! - A completely new and modern translation, 2024! Note: This short booklet includes only the first chapter of the book. This book was originally written in German, by Einstein, in 1916, and it was first published in 1917 in Germany. After WWI, thanks to the growing recognition of the work of Einstein, and of Einstein himself, it was finally translated into English in 1920. It became instant bestsellers in multiple languages. After over 100 years, for anyone who wants to learn relativity, at a conceptual level, this book still remains the best introduction to the theory of relativity. Unfortunately, for the English-speaking readers, the original translation was somewhat archaic, and it made Einstein's original intent unnecessarily harder to understand. If you ever tried to read this book, and you were disappointed due to the opaque language, then this new edition is for you. If you ever wanted to learn relativity as a non-physicist, and couldn't find a good introductory book, then this book is for you. You will learn relativity in a completely new way, as if Einstein himself is talking to you. It is still not an easy book to read. Relativity is not an easy subject. There are even some "equations" in the book, unlike the vast majority of the "popular science books". To make the book more accessible, to a wider audience, we are publishing a series of single chapter edition booklets, with all new English translation (2024). We hope that some readers will find these short novela-style booklets easier to digest than more traditional single book formats. You will also realize that a good translation makes a huge difference. Compare this new translation with the public-domain books of the original English translation, which is now over 100 years old.

This book was released on 2018-02-25 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Relativity: The Special and the General Theory began as a short paper and was eventually published as a book written by Albert Einstein with the aim of giving: "an exact insight into the theory of relativity to those readers who, from a general scientific and philosophical point of view, are interested in the theory, but who are not conversant with the mathematical apparatus of theoretical physics." It was first published in German in 1916 and later translated into English in 1920. It is divided into 3 parts, the first dealing with special relativity, the second dealing with general relativity and the third dealing with considerations on the universe as a whole.

Book excerpt: Relativity: The Special And General Theory, A Popular Exposition, Authorised Translation By Robert W. Lawson (Revised Edition) This book is a result of an effort made by us towards making a contribution to the preservation and repair of original classic literature. In an attempt to preserve, improve and recreate the original content, we have worked towards: 1. Type-setting & Reformatting: The complete work has been re-designed via professional layout, formatting and type-setting tools to re-create the same edition with rich typography, graphics, high quality images, and table elements, giving our readers the feel of holding a 'fresh and newly' reprinted and/or revised edition, as opposed to other scanned & printed (Optical Character Recognition - OCR) reproductions. 2. Correction of imperfections: As the work was re-created from the scratch, therefore, it was vetted to rectify certain conventional norms with regard to typographical mistakes, hyphenations, punctuations, blurred images, missing content/pages, and/or other related subject matters, upon our consideration. Every attempt was made to rectify the imperfections related to omitted constructs in the original edition via other references. However, a few of such imperfections which could not be rectified due to intentional\unintentional omission of content in the original edition, were inherited and preserved from the original work to maintain the authenticity and construct, relevant to the work. We believe that this work holds historical, cultural and/or intellectual importance in the literary works community, therefore despite the oddities, we accounted the work for print as a part of our continuing effort towards preservation of literary work and our contribution towards the development of the society as a whole, driven by our beliefs. We are grateful to our readers for putting their faith in us and accepting our imperfections with regard to preservation of the historical content. HAPPY READING!
