Book Subsonic Performance Potential of Ramjets and Ejector Ramjets

Download or read book Subsonic Performance Potential of Ramjets and Ejector Ramjets written by and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 99 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A method for analyzing the performance of a ramjet engine at subsonic flight speeds is presented. The absence of a known choked point (M=1) in the engine necessitates an iterative solution. A modified ideal gas analysis is utilized. Considered are the conventional ramjet with liquid fuel injection and an ejector ramjet using vaporized fuel injected into the engine at supersonic velocities. In the latter case, the fuel's momentum is significant and the ejector action draws additional air mass into the engine, which must be considered in the analysis. The method presented compares the two engine cycles at several subsonic flight speeds for both JP-4 and propane fuel. The effects of several levels of component efficiencies are considered.

Book Subsonic Combustion Ramjet Design

Download or read book Subsonic Combustion Ramjet Design written by Antonella Ingenito and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-01-29 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a step-by-step methodology for the design of ramjet engines. It explores ramjet combustion, provides guidelines on how to size the engines, and discusses performance analysis. The book begins with an introduction to ramjet design, including fundamental definitions in the field. It then discusses ramjet engine performance, and fuels which can be used. Several types of ramjet engines are then explored, and guidelines for their design are presented, including flame holders, injectors, and combustors. Finally, the book concludes with a discussion of the types of materials which should be used for ramjet engines. This book is of interest to engine designers and engineers, researchers, and graduate students, as it collates research in a succinct, clear guide to the issue of designing ramjet engines.

Book Composite Engines for Application to a Single stage to orbit Vehicle

Download or read book Composite Engines for Application to a Single stage to orbit Vehicle written by Joseph G. Bendot and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Seven composite engines were designed for application to a reusable single-stage-to-orbit vehicle. The engine designs were variations of the supercharged ejector ramjet engine. The resulting performance, weight, and drawings of each engine form a data base for establishing a potential of this class of composite engine to various missions, including the single-stage-to-orbit application. The impact of advanced technology in the design of the critical fan turbine was established.
