Trust doesn't come easy for her, but their concern for her, and outrage at what their club member has done to her, eases some of her fears. Before she knows it, Royce Harley and King Taylor ensconce her in their floor at the club and she's signed a contract to become a submissive at their hands for a month and then be auctioned to live out her wildest fantasies. The sexual journey Royce and King take her on, though, proves more powerful than she anticipated, and proves to her that she is right where she belongs. ** A Siren Erotic Romance

Book The Desire of Psychoanalysis

Download or read book The Desire of Psychoanalysis written by Gabriel Tupinambá and published by Northwestern University Press. This book was released on 2021-02-15 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Desire of Psychoanalysis proposes that recognizing how certain theoretical and institutional problems in Lacanian psychoanalysis are grounded in the historical conditions of Lacan’s own thinking might allow us to overcome these impasses. In order to accomplish this, Gabriel Tupinambá analyzes the socioeconomic practices that underlie the current institutional existence of the Lacanian community—its political position as well as its institutional history—in relation to theoretical production. By focusing on the underlying dynamic that binds clinical practice, theoretical work, and institutional security in Lacanian psychoanalysis today, Tupinambá is able to locate sites for conceptual innovation that have been ignored by the discipline, such as the understanding of the role of money in clinical practice, the place of analysands in the transformation of psychoanalytic theory, and ideological dead-ends that have become common sense in the Lacanian field. The Desire of Psychoanalysis thus suggests ways of opening up psychoanalysis to new concepts and clinical practices and calls for a transformation of how psychoanalysis is understood as an institution.

Book Architecture of Defeat

Download or read book Architecture of Defeat written by Kengo Kuma and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-06-11 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kengo Kuma, one of Japan’s leading architects, has been combining professional practice and academia for most of his career. In addition to creating many internationally recognized buildings all over the world, he has written extensively about the history and theory of architecture. Like his built work, his writings also reflect his profound personal philosophy. Architecture of Defeat is no exception. Now available in English for the first time, the book explores events and architectural trends in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries in both Japan and beyond. It brings together a collection of essays which Kuma wrote after disasters such as the destruction of the World Trade Center in New York City on 9/11 and the earthquake and tsunami that obliterated much of the built landscape on Japan’s northern shore in a matter of minutes in 2011. Asking if we have been building in a manner that is too self-confident or arrogant, he examines architecture’s intrinsic—and often problematic—relationship to the powerful forces of contemporary politics, economics, consumerism, and technology, as well as its vital ties to society. Despite the title, Architecture of Defeat is an optimistic and hopeful book. Rather than anticipating the demise of architecture, Kuma envisages a different mode of conceiving architecture: guided and shaped by more modesty and with greater respect for the forces of our natural world. Beautifully designed and illustrated, this is a fascinating insight into the thinking of one of the world’s most influential architects.

Lainey couldn't resist the allure of the kink-friendly island when they offered her a position as their new fitness instructor. Not that she's submissive. Sure, she's fascinated by BDSM, but her super competitive and fiercely independent nature won't allow her to submit to a man. That's just not happening. When the sexy hunk of a Dom invites her to scene, Lainey is reluctant, but her friends encourage her. And she is curious to see what all the fuss is about, even if it'll never lead anywhere. For Cooper, that one incendiary scene proves what he already suspected. Despite her denials, he understands Lainey better than she understands herself. Book Traditional Christian Ethics

Download or read book Traditional Christian Ethics written by David W. T. Brattston and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2014-10-01 with total page 597 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traditional Christian Ethics features two exhaustive alphabetical lists of affirmative commandments and prohibitions from the earliest Christian ethics, as found in writers before the mass apostasy of 249-251 AD. The affirmatives, or positives, list consists of what Christians are/were commanded or encouraged to do. The other list is of negatives or prohibitions, i.e. what Christians are/were discouraged from doing, similarly arranged. The source material for the work encompasses far more than the ten-volume Ante-Nicene Fathers edited by Roberts and Donaldson. It also draws from all writings of the period: Christian, Jewish, and pagan, available in English or French translation, plus a few Latin translations. Some translations have been published only in scholarly journals, and some only in the twenty-first century. Volumes Two and Three form a single exhaustive alphabetical list of affirmative commandments or precepts, including mental attitudes, i.e. what Christian ethics commanded or encouraged according to writers on Christian ethics before 250 AD. Using earlier drafts of this set of books, Dr. Brattstons articles and booklets synthesizing early and contemporary Christianity have been published by a wide variety of denominations and ministries in every major English-speaking country. He hopes readers will use them as a starting-point for writing articles, papers, and sermons of their own.

Book The Conversion and Therapy of Desire

Download or read book The Conversion and Therapy of Desire written by Mark J Boone and published by James Clarke & Company. This book was released on 2017-08-31 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first fruits of the literary career of St Augustine, the great theologian and Christian philosopher par excellence, are the dialogues he wrote at Cassiciacum in Italy following his famous conversion in Milan in AD 386. These four little books, largely neglected by scholars, take up the ancient philosophical project of identifying the principles and practices that heal human desires in order to attain happiness, renewing this philosophical endeavour with insights from Christian theology. Augustine's later books, such as the Confessions, would continue this project of healing desire, as would the writings of others including Boethius, Anselm, and Aquinas. Mark J. Boone's The Conversion and Therapy of Desire investigates the roots of thisproject at Cassiciacum, where Augustine is developing a Christian theology of desire, informed by Neoplatonism but transformed by Christian teaching and practices.
