Government regulations are largely non-partisan, and exist to protect society, the general welfare, and the free enterprise system. Uber and the ride-share concept may be plowed under by regulations that exist to protect the public interest. However, regulations sometimes backfire and cause unintended consequences.

Inspired by the works of Laurence Sterne, with their digressive and colloquial style, de Maistre decided to make the most of his sentence by recording an exploration of the room as a travel journal. de Maistre’s book imbues the tour of his chamber with great mythology and grand scale. As he wanders the few steps that it takes to circumnavigate the space, his mind spins off into the ether. It parodies the travel journals of the eighteenth-century (such as A Voyage Around the World by Louis de Bougainville, 1771), and could be read today as an early take on the modern vogue for “psychogeography” — each tiny thing that he encounters sends de Maistre into rhapsodies, and mundane journeys become magnificent voyages.

The symptoms were weird and were not what is commonly associated with colon cancer. After major surgery in early 2016, the plan was to get me back on my feet within 6 months. Sadly, the common treatment method of chemotherapy did not work in my case. Turns out I have some genetic defects that lead to an aggressive form of uber nasty cancer, rendering most conventional treatment options useless. As a result, my hospital decided to turn me away, knowing they had no idea how to help me going forward. Seemingly left to die with no further treatment options, the power of the universe put me in touch with a crack team of doctors at Mount Sinai Hospital in Miami Beach. These people were not so easy to give up on me just yet. They suggested immunotherapy, the same treatment that miraculously cured Jimmy Carter. And it worked wonders! In only two months I went from a sleep deprived wreck, living with constant pain, unable to walk without a wheelchair or a stick, to cycling 10 miles a day. And all that without major side effects. If that's not a miracle then I don't know what is! BROKEN BOWELS is my personal account of these horrific yet truly amazing years I have endured. I've had countless chemotherapy and radiation treatments and survived terrible side effects. I've had 6 surgeries, I've had a colostomy for almost two years and an ileostomy for three months. I've lived without solid food for nearly a year, and for many months I've endured every type of catheter known to man, until I very nearly lost my whole bladder. Upon conclusion of the first file, I printed copies of it and distributed it to my riders while continuing to write Uberism: Book2. I repeated the process I started, and upon conclusion of the second chapter, I printed copies of it to distribute to my riders. That became an expensive process. Since these files could be found on Facebook, I just chatted with my riders about Uberisms and told them how to access them on the computer. It was at that point that I gave consideration to publishing a book. At that point, the number of individual Uberisms reached five files, totaling about seventy-five thousand words, and it was time to publish my works, but I needed an all-encompassing title. That was the birth of Analogy of an Uber Drivers Experiences.
