Book High Speed Strained Layer Multiquantum Well GaInAsP and GaAs Lasers and Heterostructures

Download or read book High Speed Strained Layer Multiquantum Well GaInAsP and GaAs Lasers and Heterostructures written by John Bowers and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 63 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report is divided into three Sections: the first covering the work done in the area of high speed InGaAs/GaAs strained quantum well lasers; the second in the material growth and laser fabrication in the InGaAs/AlInGaAs system; and the third in the Gas Source Molecular Beam Epitaxy (GSMBE) of In materials. This contract began at a time when quantum well laser bandwidths were severely limited for unknown reasons and the largest bandwidths were in bulk lasers. This has all changed now. Strained quantum well lasers were fabricated during the initial phase of this program resulting in anomalously large damping rates in quantum well lasers. Large damping rates result in small bandwidth because the lasers become critically damped at a low frequency. During the second portion of the contract, a theory describing the reasons for the resonance frequency, damping frequency, K factor, intensity noise, internal efficiency injection efficiency and wavelength chirping has been derived. Theoretical and experimental evidence in this program shows that carrier transport can lead to significant low frequency parasitic-like, rolloff that reduces the modulation response by as much as a factor of six in quantum well lasers. Semiconductor laser, Heterostructures, Quantum wells, Strained.

Book CMOS Voltage References

Download or read book CMOS Voltage References written by Chi-Wah Kok and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-12-19 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A practical overview of CMOS circuit design, this book covers the technology, analysis, and design techniques of voltage reference circuits. The design requirements covered follow modern CMOS processes, with an emphasis on low power, low voltage, and low temperature coefficient voltage reference design. Dedicating a chapter to each stage of the design process, the authors have organized the content to give readers the tools they need to implement the technologies themselves. Readers will gain an understanding of device characteristics, the practical considerations behind circuit topology, and potential problems with each type of circuit. Many design examples are used throughout, most of which have been tested with silicon implementation or employed in real-world products. This ensures that the material presented relevant to both students studying the topic as well as readers requiring a practical viewpoint. Covers CMOS voltage reference circuit design, from the basics through to advanced topics Provides an overview of basic device physics and different building blocks of voltage reference designs Features real-world examples based on actual silicon implementation Includes analytical exercises, simulation exercises, and silicon layout exercises, giving readers guidance and design layout experience for voltage reference circuits Solution manual available to instructors from the book’s companion website This book is highly useful for graduate students in VLSI design, as well as practicing analog engineers and IC design professionals. Advanced undergraduates preparing for further study in VLSI will also find this book a helpful companion text.

Book Low Voltage CMOS Operational Amplifiers

Download or read book Low Voltage CMOS Operational Amplifiers written by Satoshi Sakurai and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Low-Voltage CMOS Operational Amplifiers: Theory, Design and Implementation discusses both single and two-stage architectures. Opamps with constant-gm input stage are designed and their excellent performance over the rail-to-rail input common mode range is demonstrated. The first set of CMOS constant-gm input stages was introduced by a group from Technische Universiteit, Delft and Universiteit Twente, the Netherlands. These earlier versions of circuits are discussed, along with new circuits developed at the Ohio State University. The design, fabrication (MOSIS Tiny Chips), and characterization of the new circuits are now complete. Basic analog integrated circuit design concepts should be understood in order to fully appreciate the work presented. However, the topics are presented in a logical order and the circuits are explained in great detail, so that Low-Voltage CMOS Operational Amplifiers can be read and enjoyed by those without much experience in analog circuit design. It is an invaluable reference book, and may be used as a text for advanced courses on the subject.

Book Food Traceability and Authenticity

Download or read book Food Traceability and Authenticity written by Didier Montet and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2017-11-22 with total page 486 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Food traceability is a growing consumer concern worldwide. Traceability is undertaken primarily at the administrative level, where the use of advanced analytical tools is not available. Nevertheless, the determination of geographical origin is a requirement of the traceability system for the import and export of foodstuffs (EU regulation 178/2002). The topics covered in this book include the history of traceability; legislations and rules; the actual traceability techniques and the potential analytical techniques for food traceability such as molecular methods (e.g. DGGE, SSCP), next generation sequencers (NGS), bio-captors, chromatographic techniques, isotopic analysis that are used for discrimination of organic food, fish, oils. The chromatographic techniques help in the use of volatile compounds analysis. The isotope analysis helps in distinguishing between chicken meat and vegetable oils. Ambient mass spectrometry is used for studying mycotoxines and alkaloids in foodstuffs and their management, food and feed authentication in olive and other plant oils, and wine. Vibrational methods (e.g. NMR and NIRS) are used to trace food by global spectrum. The book reviews the current and future techniques including metabolomic techniques.
