Download or read book Gas Hydrates 1 written by Daniel Broseta and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-06-29 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Gas hydrates, or clathrate hydrates, are crystalline solids resembling ice, in which small (guest) molecules, typically gases, are trapped inside cavities formed by hydrogen-bonded water (host) molecules. They form and remain stable under low temperatures – often well below ambient conditions – and high pressures ranging from a few bar to hundreds of bar, depending on the guest molecule. Their presence is ubiquitous on Earth, in deep-marine sediments and in permafrost regions, as well as in outer space, on planets or comets. In addition to water, they can be synthesized with organic species as host molecules, resulting in milder stability conditions: these are referred to as semi-clathrate hydrates. Clathrate and semi-clathrate hydrates are being considered for applications as diverse as gas storage and separation, cold storage and transport and water treatment. This book is the first of two edited volumes, with chapters on the experimental and modeling tools used for characterizing and predicting the unique molecular, thermodynamic and kinetic properties of gas hydrates (Volume 1) and on gas hydrates in their natural environment and for potential industrial applications (Volume 2).
Download or read book Desalination written by Taner Yonar and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2017-08-30 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Increasing population and environmental pollution are the main stress on freshwater sources. On the other hand, freshwater needs of human being increase dramatically every day. From agriculture to industry and from household to recreation, we need freshwater. In the near future, saltwater and brackish water bodies may be the main source of freshwater for our planet. Desalination phenomena are now being implemented with increasing interest. The book on desalination provides a valuable scientific contribution on freshwater production from saltwater sources. In this book, necessary theoretical knowledge and experimental results of different desalination processes are presented.
Download or read book Bibliography written by Pierre Villars and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2012-12-21 with total page 1827 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By browsing about 10 000 000 scientific articles of over 200 major journals mainly in a 'cover to cover approach' some 200 000 publications were selected. The extracted data is part of the following fundamental material research fields: crystal structures (S), phase diagrams (also called constitution) (C) and the comprehensive field of intrinsic physical properties (P). This work has been done systematically starting with the literature going back to 1900. The above mentioned research field codes (S, C, P) as well as the chemical systems investigated in each publication were included in the present work. The aim of the Inorganic Substances Bibliography is to provide researchers with a comprehensive compilation of all up to now published scientific publications on inorganic systems in only three handy volumes.

Download or read book Deep Eutectic Solvents in Liquid Liquid Extraction written by Papu Kumar Naik and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-11-07 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Deep eutectic solvents (DESs) are a new class of green solvents that open a whole new world of opportunities for separation challenges. This book comprehensively provides a detailed discussion of their application as an extractive solvent in separation processes, adopting molecular dynamics (MD) simulations for atomistic insight into the solute transfer across bi-phasic systems. Furthermore, it explains ternary and quaternary mixtures, including MD simulation of relevant DES systems. Features in this volume include the following: Applications of DESs in the extraction of aromatics and polyaromatics from fuel oil by liquid–liquid extraction Eutectic behavior with respect to hydrocarbon and aqueous solutions MD insights on extraction using DESs Possible industrial applicability of potential DESs Results from Gaussian, NAMD, and PACKMOL software packages This book is aimed at researchers and graduate students working in the field of fuels and petrochemicals, separation science, chromatography, and chemical processing and design.
