Book Study of Scalar Mesons and Related Radiative Decays

Download or read book Study of Scalar Mesons and Related Radiative Decays written by and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After a brief review of the puzzling light scalar meson sector of QCD, a brief summary will be given of a paper concerning radiative decays involving the light scalars. There, a simple vector meson dominance model is constructed in an initial attempt to relate a large number of the radiative decays involving a putative scalar nonet to each other. As an application it is illustrated why a0(980)-f0(980) mixing is not expected to greatly alter the f0/a0 production ratio for radiative [phi] decays.

Book Scalar Meson Effects in Radiative Decays of Vector Mesons

Book excerpt: The role of scalar mesons in radiative vector meson decays is investigated. The effects of scalar-isoscalar f_{0}(980) and scalar-isovector a_{0}(980) mesons are studied in the mechanism of the radiative Phi->pi{+}pi{-}gamma and phi->pi{0}eta gamma decays, respectively. A phenomenological approach is used to study the radiative phi->pi{+}p{-}gamma decay by considering the contributions of sigma-meson, rho-meson and f_{0}-meson. The interference effects between different contributions are analyzed and the branching ratio for this decay is calculated. The radiative phi->pi{0}eta gamma decay is studied within the framework of a phenomenological approach in which the contributions of rho-meson, chiral loop and a_{0}-meson are considered. The interference effects between different contributions are examined and the coupling constants g_{phi a_{0} gamma} and g_{a_{0}K{+}K{-}} are estimated using the experimental branching ratio for the phi->pi{0}eta gamma decay. Furthermore, the radiative rho{0}pi{+}pi{-}gamma$ and rho{0}->pi{0}pi{0}gamma decays are studied to investigate the role of scalar-isoscalar sigma-meson. The branching ratios of the rho{0}->pi{+}pi{-}gamma and rho{0}->pi{0}pi{0}gamma decays are calculated using a phenomenological approach by adding to the amplitude calculated within the framework of chiral perturbation theory and vector meson dominance the amplitude of sigma-meson intermediate state. In all the decays studied the scalar meson intermediate states make important contributions to the overall amplitude.

Book excerpt: Existing predictions for the branching ratio for phi -> KK(sub)gamma ma phi -> S(sub)gamma (where S denotes one of the scalar mesons f(sub)0(975) and alpha(sub)0(980)) vary by several orders of magnitude. As a byproduct we find that the branching ratio for phi -> K^0K^0(sub)gamma is

Book Radiative Decays Involving A0 980 and F0 980 in the Vector Meson Dominance Model

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We summarize some features of the vector meson dominance model which was recently proposed for studying radiative decays involving the scalar mesons. Using the experimental values of [Gamma](a[sub 0] [yields] [gamma][gamma]), [Gamma](f[sub 0] [yields] [gamma][gamma]) and [Gamma]([phi] [yields] a[sub 0] [gamma]) as inputs, we show that the model predicts a large hierarchy between [Gamma](a[sub 0] [yields] [omega][gamma]) and [Gamma](a[sub 0] [yields] [rho][gamma]) as well as between [Gamma](f[sub 0] [yields] [omega][gamma]) and [Gamma](f[sub 0] [yields] [rho][gamma]).

Book Vector Meson Dominance Model for Radiative Decays Involving Light Scalar Mesons

Download or read book Vector Meson Dominance Model for Radiative Decays Involving Light Scalar Mesons written by and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We study a vector dominance model which predicts a fairly large number of currently interesting decay amplitudes of the types S ->??, V -> S? and S -> V?, where S and V denote scalar and vector mesons, in terms of three parameters. As an application we first use our approach to obtain the usual puzzling result?(? -> f0?)/?(? -> a0°?)H" 1 rather than the observed value of about 3. The model makes it easy to test in detail a recent proposal to solve this puzzle by including the isospin violating a0°-f0 mixing and we find that it seems successful.

Book Study of Rare Radiative Phi Decays at Jefferson Lab

Book excerpt: The RadPhi Collaboration has proposed using the intense tagged photon beam in Hall B at TJNAF to produce [phi] mesons and measure the branching ratios of [phi]'s decaying into the a0(980)g and f0(980)[gamma] all-neutral final states. The comparison of branching ratios for these two decay modes should provide crucial information on the quark substructure of a0(980) and f0(980) scalar mesons. Three engineering runs conducted so far measured the photon beam profile, instantaneous rates, pileups and dead times in the detector components, as well as energy and timing resolutions of RadPhi detectors. The measurements demonstrated that the proposed experiment is capable of detecting rare radiative [phi] decays with branching ratios greater than 10−5.

Book Radiative Decay of the Psi 2S Into Two Pseudoscalar Mesons

Download or read book Radiative Decay of the Psi 2S Into Two Pseudoscalar Mesons written by and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Radiative decays of the radically excited charmonium resonance, [psi](2S), into [pi][pi], K{bar K} and [eta][eta] final states have been measured in a sample of 3.96 x 106 [psi](2S) events collected by the BES collaboration. The branching ratios B([psi](2S) 2![gamma]f2(1270)) = (2.27 ± 0.26 ± 0.39) x 10−4 and B([psi](2S) 2![gamma]f0(1710)) x B(f0(1710) 2!KK−) = (5.59 ± 1.12 ± 0.93) x 10−5 are obtained. When compared to the corresponding radiative J/[psi] decays, the observed [psi](2S) radiative decay rates into [gamma]f2(1270) and [gamma]f0(1710) are consistent with the ''15%'' rule.
