Book excerpt: Decays of the type B {yields} D(*){bar D}(*) can be used to provide a measurement of the parameter sin2{beta} of the Unitarity Triangle that is complementary to that derived from the mode B{sup 0} {yields} J/{psi}K{sub S}{sup 0}. Here we report a measurement of the branching fraction and a study of the CP parity content for the decay B{sup 0} {yields} D*{sup +}D*{sup -} with the BABAR detector. With data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 20.7 fb{sup -1} collected at the {Upsilon}(4S) resonance during 1999-2000, we determine the branching fraction to be {Beta}(B{sup 0} {yields} D*{sup +}D*{sup -}) = (8.0 {+-} 1.6(stat) {+-} 1.2(syst.)) x 10{sup -4}. The measured fraction of the component with odd CP parity is 0.22 {+-} 0.18(stat) {+-} 0.03(syst). Observation of a significant number of candidates in the decay modes B{sup 0} {yields} D*{sup +}D{sup -} and B{sup +} {yields} D*{sup +}D*{sup 0} is reported. All results presented in this note are preliminary.

The study is performed by fully reconstructing the exclusive decays of B → D(*) a1(1260) and the non-resonant modes B → D(*) [rho]°[pi] and B → D(*) [pi][pi][pi]. The current status of the study is presented and a dominant B → D(*) a1(1260) decay is shown.

Book excerpt: We report on analyses of B− mesons decaying into D*?−?− and D+?−?− final states using 89 million B− decays collected by the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy B Factory. Preliminary measurements are given for the inclusive branching fractions for B− → D*+?−?− and B− → D*+?−?−, and for the exclusive branching fractions for B− → D1(2420)°?− and B− → D*2(2460)°?−, where D1(2420)° and D*2(2460)° are the two narrow c{bar u} P-wave states. The ratio?(B− → D*2(2460)°?−)/?(B− → D1(2420)°?−) is measured to be 0.80 ± 0.07 ± 0.16.

The production fraction of inclusive D[sub s][sup (*)+] and the corresponding momentum spectra have been determined. Exclusive decays B[sup 0][yields] D[sup*-] D[sub s][sup (*)+] have been identified with a partial reconstruction technique and their branching ratios have been measured. Fully reconstructed B[sup 0] decays in the hadronic modes B[sup 0][yields] D[sup*-][pi][sup+] and B[sup 0][yields] D[sup*-][rho][sup+] have been also studied and the measurement of their absolute branching fractions is reported.

Book excerpt: The B[sup 0][bar B][sup 0] oscillation frequency[Delta] m[sub d] has been measured with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric B factory with different experimental techniques. The discussion here is focused on the recent simultaneous measurement of[Delta] m[sub d] and[tau][sub B[sup 0]] with exclusively reconstructed B[sup 0][yields] D*[sup -][ell][sup+][nu][sub l] decays, based on 23 million B[bar B] pairs collected by BABAR. The measurements of[Delta] m[sub d] with fully reconstructed hadronic decays and with dilepton events are also reviewed. The average BABAR result is[Delta] m[sub d]= 0.500[+-] 0.008[+-] 0.006 ps[sup -1].

The measured B[sup 0][yields] D[sub s][sup+][pi][sup -] yield has a probability of less than 10[sup -3] to be a fluctuation of the background and they measure the branching fraction[Beta](B[sup 0][yields] D[sub s][sup+][pi][sup -])= (3.2[+-] 0.9(stat.)[+-] 1.0 (syst.)) x 10[sup -5]. The measured B[sup 0][yields] D[sub s][sup -] K[sup+] yield has a probability of less than 5 x 10[sup -4] to be a fluctuation of the background and they measure the branching fraction[Beta](B[sup 0][yields] D[sub s][sup -] K[sup+])= (3.2[+-] 1.0(stat.)[+-] 1.0(syst.)) x 10[sup -5]. They also set 90% C.L. limits[Beta](B[sup 0][yields] D*[sub s][sup+][pi][sup -])

Book excerpt: Using a sample of 471 million B{bar B} events collected with the BABAR detector, we study the sum of seven exclusive final states B → X{sub s(d)[gamma]}, where X{sub s(d)} is a strange (non-strange) hadronic system with a mass of up to 2.0 GeV/c2. After correcting for unobserved decay modes, we obtain a branching fraction for b → d[gamma] of (9.2 ± 2.0(stat.) ± 2.3(syst.)) x 10−6 in this mass range, and a branching fraction for b → s[gamma] of (23.0 ± 0.8(stat.) ± 3.0(syst.)) x 10−5 in the same mass range. We find [Beta](b→d[gamma])/[Beta](b→s{gamma}) = 0.040 ± 0.009(stat.) ± 0.010(syst.), from which we determine.
