Book Design of an Active Noise Control System to Suppress Noise from an HVAC Unit Within a 3 dimensional Enclosure

Download or read book Design of an Active Noise Control System to Suppress Noise from an HVAC Unit Within a 3 dimensional Enclosure written by Alan Wisler and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Large HVAC (Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning) units are used frequently in both living and work environments. These units can produce annoying acoustic noise that is harmful to those nearby. This thesis will address the development of an active noise control system to cancel acoustic noise from a commercially available 5-ton HVAC unit within a 3-dimensional enclosure. The main contributions of this thesis include the development and implementation of a real-time feedback active noise control system using OMAP and FPGA platforms, the analysis of this system through testing with both real and synthetic noise signals, and the theoretical development of a multi-channel system using a novel subband adaptive filtering algorithm in order to reduce the system's computational burden.

Book Active Noise Control Primer

Download or read book Active Noise Control Primer written by Scott D. Snyder and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-09-25 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By providing all the basic knowledge needed to assess how useful active noise control will be for a given problem, this book assists in the designing, setting up, and tuning of an active noise-control system. Written for students who have no prior knowledge of acoustics, signal processing, or noise control but who do have a reasonable grasp of basic physics and mathematics, the text is short and descriptive, leaving all mathematical details and proofs concerning vibrations, signal processing and the like to more advanced texts or research monographs. The book can thus be used in independent study, in a classroom with laboratories, or in conjunction with a kit for experiment or demonstration. Topics covered include basic acoustics, human perception and sound, sound intensity and related concepts, fundamentals of passive noise- control strategies, basics of digital systems and adaptive controllers, and active noise control systems.

Book An Active Noise Control ANC System for a Commercially Available HVAC Using Feedback Architecture

Download or read book An Active Noise Control ANC System for a Commercially Available HVAC Using Feedback Architecture written by Prashanth Kasbekar and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis report discusses design of an Active Noise Control (ANC) system for a commercially available HVAC using Feedback architecture. Reducing noise in living environments is an important problem to create quieter residential and work places. The main contributions of this thesis include development of a real time, stable and fast single channel Feedback ANC prototype ANC using a FPGA to cancel the compressor noise. Based on observations from the real time implementation a multichannel Feedback ANC with novel delayless subband architecture has been developed to reduce computational complexity and to improve performance. This work represents an important step in developing an ANC system for the HVAC due to application of novel delayless subband multichannel Feedback ANC algorithm on real data collected from the HVAC system. It also discusses the practical issues involved in developing an ANC system prototype using a FPGA.

Book HVAC Systems Noise Control

Download or read book HVAC Systems Noise Control written by A. Bhatia and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2014-10-14 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems can be the notorious contributors to nuisance noise in buildings. The HVAC systems and their components must be designed, installed and operated in such a way that any noise they may cause inside the building or neighboring buildings are at levels that do not cause any serious discomfort to the occupants. Noise control is not an exact science; however there are numerous ways the noise can be reduced from a particular source. The most desirable way to control excessive noise levels is by using engineering controls such as application of absorption materials, isolation techniques, installing barriers or acoustic dampening materials, and using special equipments. Investing time in the design stage and a few extra dollars during construction of HVAC system can pay off handsomely in improved performance. This 6-hour online course provides a basic understanding of noise control fundamentals and summarizes few noise control tips for HVAC system design. This course is aimed at students, mechanical and HVAC engineers, architects, building designers, interior designers, contractors, civil estimators, facility managers and general audience.
