Download or read book Lady Chatterley s Lover written by D. H. Lawrence and published by Collector's Library. This book was released on 2005 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: .0000000000Connie's unhappy marriage to Clifford Chatterley is one scarred by mutual frustration and alienation. Crippled from wartime action, Clifford is confined to a wheelchair, while Connie's solitary, sterile existence is contained within the narrow parameters of the Chatterley ancestral home, Wragby. She seizes her chance at happiness and freedom when she embarks on a passionate affair with the estate's gamekeeper, Mellors, discovering a world of sexual opportunity and pleasure she'd thought lost to her. The explosive passion of Connie and Mellors' relationship - and the searing candour with which it is described - marked a watershed in twentieth century fiction, garnering Lady Chatterley's Lover a wide and enduring readership and lasting notoriety. The text is taken from the privately published Author's Unabridged Popular Edition of 1930, the last to be supervised in the author's lifetime. It also includes Lawrence's My Skirmish with Jolly Roger, his witty essay describing the pirating of this most notorious novel which was specially written as an Introduction to this edition. With an Afterword by Anna South.

Book Lady Chatterley s Lover Sons and Lovers

Download or read book Lady Chatterley s Lover Sons and Lovers written by D. H. Lawrence and published by e-artnow. This book was released on 2019-12-18 with total page 654 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Sons and Lovers" – The refined daughter of a "good old burgher family," Gertrude Coppard meets a rough-hewn miner, Walter Morel, at a Christmas dance and falls into a whirlwind romance characterized by physical passion. But soon after her marriage to Walter, she realizes the difficulties of living off his meager salary in a rented house. The couple fights and drifts apart and Walter retreats to the pub after work each day. Gradually, Mrs. Morel's affections shift to her sons beginning with the oldest, William, and later with her second son, Paul. "Lady Chatterley's Lover" – The story concerns a young married woman, the former Constance Reid (Lady Chatterley), whose upper class husband, Sir Clifford Chatterley, described as a handsome, well-built man, has been paralysed from the waist down due to a Great War injury. In addition to Clifford's physical limitations, his emotional neglect of Constance forces distance between the couple. Her emotional frustration leads her into an affair with the gamekeeper, Oliver Mellors. The class difference between the couple highlights a major motif of the novel which is the unfair dominance of intellectuals over the working class. The novel is about Constance's realization that she cannot live with the mind alone; she must also be alive physically. This realization stems from a heightened sexual experience Constance has only felt with Mellors, suggesting that love can only happen with the element of the body, not the mind.

Book Lady Chatterley s Lover by D H Lawrence Book Analysis

Download or read book Lady Chatterley s Lover by D H Lawrence Book Analysis written by Bright Summaries and published by BrightSummaries.com. This book was released on 2019-03-28 with total page 21 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unlock the more straightforward side of Lady Chatterley’s Lover with this concise and insightful summary and analysis! This engaging summary presents an analysis of Lady Chatterley’s Lover by D. H. Lawrence. As its name suggests, the novel follows the extramarital affair between Lady Constance Chatterley and her husband’s gamekeepers Oliver Mellors. Constance is frustrated by her unsatisfying life with her partially paralysed husband Clifford and gradually grows closer to the seemingly uncouth but ultimately kind and tender Mellors, in spite of the gulf in social class that separates them. The novel’s explicit sexual content and language meant that it was heavily censored when it was first published, and the later release of an unexpurgated edition resulted in an obscenity trial in Britain in 1960. It is arguably D. H. Lawrence’s best-known novel; his other works include Sons and Lovers and The Rainbow, both of which are regularly ranked among the greatest novels of the 20th century.
