Book Morphogenetical Divergence of Bread Wheat

Download or read book Morphogenetical Divergence of Bread Wheat written by Mahbuba Ferdous and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-08 with total page 92 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last few years, Agricultural lands have dramatically decreased in the world. Mainly the over populated countries are seriously affected by this problem. To ensure food security for the ever increasing population we have to grow more food in limited area. For this reason the demand of diversified high yielding varieties is upgrading day by day. Genetic divergence is important for genetic improvement. This book provides attractive ideas about highest diversified varieties of the most widely adopted crop all over the world i.e wheat. The performance of twenty five wheat genotypes based on thirteen agronomic characters and molecular marker analyzed here from which the readers know about the most important characters for improving grain yield in wheat. The result of interaction within genotypes and environment should help people to be interested about heritable characters of wheat. From this research the author highly recommended three varieties for farmers to reinforce both the grain quality and quantity. This book might become a valuable source of information to the researcher and other personnel who are working for the betterment of agriculture.

Book Genetic Dissection of Grain Weight Related Traits in Bread Wheat

Download or read book Genetic Dissection of Grain Weight Related Traits in Bread Wheat written by Reyazul Rouf Mir and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this manuscript, we have used for the first time two important approaches of genetic dissection (QTL interval mapping and association mapping) together for the study of marker-trait associations for the identification of molecular markers associated with a variety of economically important traits with emphasis on grain weight (GW)in bread wheat. We mainly focused on the following aspects: (i) Preparation of whole-genome framework linkage map of an intervarietal RIL mapping population developed specifically for GW and derived from the cross Chinese Spring x Rye Selection 111 . (ii) Single-locus QTL analysis (interval mapping) for GW (including other grain traits), and other agronomically important traits using the above RIL mapping population. (iii) Study of QTL x QTL epistatic interactions and QTL x environment interactions using two-locus QTL analysis. (iv) Study of genetic diversity and population structure of a collection of elite Indian bread wheat cultivars. (v) Association mapping of GW and other agronomically important traits using above collection of elite Indian bread wheat cultivars."

Book Dissection of the Association of Spike Traits and Grain Yield Attributes in Bread Wheat Genotypes and F1 Hybrids Derived from Line X Tester Mating

Download or read book Dissection of the Association of Spike Traits and Grain Yield Attributes in Bread Wheat Genotypes and F1 Hybrids Derived from Line X Tester Mating written by R.K Yadava and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present investigation was undertaken with the objective to evaluate the nature and magnitude of genetic variability and correlation of different spike traits and other character association with grain yield. Eighteen diverse bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.em Thell.) genotypes and 72 F1 lines were evaluated to estimate the extent of association with respect to spike traits and grain yield. The coefficient for genotypic correlation for most of the character combination was higher in magnitude, as compared to corresponding phenotypic correlation coefficient, indicating largely the strong inherent nature of traits recorded in the present investigation. The yield per plant exhibited positive and strong association with all the traits except with 100 grain weight. From the present investigation, it could be suggested that breeder has to work cautiously for any breeding program aimed at improving particularly the 100 grain weight.

Book Genetic Divergence Combining Ability and Heterosis for Yield And

Download or read book Genetic Divergence Combining Ability and Heterosis for Yield And written by Dilruba Majumder and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2012-04 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The experiment was carried out with genetic divergence of spring wheat and combining ability, heterosis and heritability for yield and yield contributing characters from a five parent- half diallel cross in F2 generation for genotypes of wheat. Genetic divergence was assessed through Mahalanobis' D2 -statistics and Principal Component Analysis (PCA). The genotypes were grouped into six clusters. The combining ability analysis studied in the diallel cross populations. General combining ability (GCA) and specific combining ability (SCA) mean squares in F2 generation was significant for all the characters. There was significant expression of non additive gene actions even in F2 generation, which indicates that epistatic components of non additive gene actions might have been involved. The crosses Sonora x Opata and SA-92 x Rawal had positive and significant SCA effects for grain yield. Maximum mid parent heterosis for grain yield was 39.97% in the cross Sonora x NK-5 which was much higher than mid parent heterosis for other yield contributing characters. Positive relation was observed between heterosis of the crosses with their corresponding SCA effects.
