Download or read book Materials Thermochemistry written by Oswald Kubaschewski and published by Pergamon. This book was released on 1993 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Materials Thermochemistry, the 6th Edition of Metallurgical Thermochemistry, aims to demonstrate the central role of thermochemistry in the understanding and designing of materials and materials processes. Extensively revised and up-dated, the 6th Edition of this classic work includes all the latest developments in experimental methods, new methods for estimating thermochemical data for both pure and alloy substances, new practical applications of thermochemical calculations, and up-dated tables of critically evaluated thermochemical data for inorganic substances and binary alloy systems. The basic principles of chemical thermodynamics are presented in a straightforward way with many examples of the use of thermochemical calculations in solving a variety of materials' problems. Although thermodynamics is an established field, this 6th Edition presents the newest experimental methods and calculations of complex equilibria associated with the most recent materials and environmental considerations (e.g. environmental pollution). This text is suitable for graduates and undergraduates alike and provides basic information necessary for researchers to apply thermochemical principles and data to the optimization of materials and materials processes.
Download or read book Thermochemical properties of inorganic substances written by I. Barin and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 950 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the practical application of thermochemistry to the development and control of tech nical processes, the data for as many substances as possible are needed in conjunction with rapid and simple methods of calculating equilibrium constants, heat balances and the EMF of galvanic cells. For these three types of calculation the following three ther modynamic functions are suitable: The Planck function, the enthalpy and the Gibbs free energy, which are here defined and tabulated as unambigous functions of temperature for pure substances. The first edition of the tables was published in 1973 under the title "Thermochemical Properties of Inorganic Substances". The present supplementary volume contains the data and functions for a further 800 inorganic substances. In addition, the data for about 250 substances from the first volume have been up-dated. These usually small corrections produce better consistency with the data from more recent publications. The comments of users and reviewers of the first volume have largely been concerned with the difference between the present thermodynamic functions and the system used in the JANAF tables, the somewhat unconventional handling of heat balances adopted here, the notation of cell reactions, the description of non-stoichiometric phases and the accuracy of the tabulated data. To answer these questions and criticims the theore tical concepts and the practical use of the tables are dealt with in more detail in the introduction, following the recommendation of some reviewers.
Download or read book Handbook of Sample Preparation written by Janusz Pawliszyn and published by Wiley-Blackwell. This book was released on 2011-03-17 with total page 480 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discover new keys to solving analytical problems using the Latest sample preparation methods Commonly viewed of as a routine task rather than as an integral component in the analytical process, sample preparation has long been undervalued as a science and underdeveloped as a technology. In an effort to reverse this trend, Handbook of Sample Preparation shows why sample preparation deserves closer scientific scrutiny, and makes a compelling case for colleges and professional laboratories to devote more resources to promote the benefits of its correct application. Handbook of Sample Preparation includes: A solid overview of standard sampling methodologies and their analytical capabilities An introduction of non-traditional sampling technologies, which address the need for solvent-free alternatives, automation, and miniaturization A discussion of the analytical shift toward performing sampling on-site, rather than in the laboratory An examination of various extraction technologies and their applications for different types of matrices A look at how to take advantage of new sampling strategies to streamline laboratory procedures, reduce research costs, and increase overall productivity An excellent primer on the fundamentals of extraction as well as a sound guide on the latest technological upgrades influencing current sampling techniques, this versatile text serves as an important and accessible tool for both students and seasoned practitioners as they seek new avenues for improving the accuracy of their analyses.

Download or read book Non destructive Elemental Analysis written by Zeev B. Alfassi and published by Wiley-Blackwell. This book was released on 2001-07-09 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is written for professional, academic and government analytical chemists. It is a "one-stop-shop" providing an overview and reference source on this subject, which has been growing steadily with outstanding technical developments in recent years. Non-destructive methods are generally nuclear techniques as they depend only on physical properties of the atomic nucleus and do not need the preparation of solutions. However some of the methods as XRF and ICP-MS-LA which depend on the inner electrons or the mass of the atom are also included as they are non-destructive. Non-destructive assays are expanding in the fields of materials, archaeology, biology and the arts. A team of expert authors describes all the major non-destructive methods available to the analyst clearly and concisely. In each case practical examples are used along with detailed coverage of equipment, methodology and underlying theory. In this way readers can gain an appreciation of how day-to-day work is connected to the basic principles.
