Book Destress Blasting at Campbell Red Lake Mine

Download or read book Destress Blasting at Campbell Red Lake Mine written by A. Makuch and published by CANMET. This book was released on 1987 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Destress blasting is commonly used in rockburst-prone pillars in thin steeply-dipping orebodies to fracture the rock and reduce the stresses acting on the pillar. Since 1982, 4 destress blasts have been done in pillars at Campbell Red Lake Mine. This report explores rock mechanics concepts of destressing and identifies the parameters of a successful destress blast; describes the first 3 destress blasts in cut and fill crown pillars and shrinkage boxhole pillars and documents the reasons for destressing, the design, instrumentation used and post-blast observations; and describes the extensive monitoring of the 4th destress blast, including the computer modelling and its comparison with in situ measurement of stress and convergence.

Book Assessment and Prevention of Failure Phenomena in Rock Engineering

Book A Five year Review of the Canada Ontario Industry Rockburst Project

Download or read book A Five year Review of the Canada Ontario Industry Rockburst Project written by D. G. F. Hedley and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Canada-Ontario-Industry Rockburst project was initiated in 1984 because of the re-emergence of a serious rockbursting problem in some of Ontario's mines. This report reviews the accomplishments realized during the first 5 years of the project, from 1984-89. The report describes the problem of seismicity in Ontario mines, seismic monitoring systems, scaling relationships, and the work conducted at the mines at Elliot Lake, Kirkland Lake, Red Lake, and Sudbury by each company involved. A list of publications and the personnel involved in the project are also included.

Book Support of Underground Excavations in Hard Rock

Download or read book Support of Underground Excavations in Hard Rock written by E. Hoek and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2000-01-01 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The safe and economical construction of tunnels, mines, and other subterranean works depends on the correct choice of support systems to ensure that the excavations are stable. These support systems should be matched to the characterstics of the rock mass and the excavation techniques adopted. Establishing the support requirements, designing support systems and installing these correctly are essential elements in safe underground construction. This is a comprehensive and practical work which also gives access to user-friendly computer programmes which enable the investigation and design of support techniques. Details on how to obtain this software are also included in the book.

Book Mini Habits for Weight Loss

Download or read book Mini Habits for Weight Loss written by Stephen Guise and published by Selective Entertainment LLC. This book was released on 2016-11-27 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The brain resists dramatic behavioral shifts. Recognizing this and developing a strategy around it made the original Mini Habits the #1 selling self-help book in a number of countries. In Mini Habits for Weight Loss, you’ll discover that we also biologically resist such changes, which explains why most dieters and smoothie-cleanse aficionados lose weight in the short term, only to gain it all back (and more). Mini Habits for Weight Loss will show you how to make dietary changes in a sustainable, permanent way that doesn’t trigger biological or neurological resistance. It’s an advanced version of the method that made the original book a hit in 14 languages. The mini habits remain easy to implement, but the reasoning and supporting strategies are more sophisticated. This is by necessity, as weight loss factors are many and varied. All the suggestions in the book are rooted in extensive biological and neuroscience research.
