This book was released on 2017-08-12 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Trieste Publishing has a massive catalogue of classic book titles. Our aim is to provide readers with the highest quality reproductions of fiction and non-fiction literature that has stood the test of time. The many thousands of books in our collection have been sourced from libraries and private collections around the world. The titles that Trieste Publishing has chosen to be part of the collection have been scanned to simulate the original. Our readers see the books the same way that their first readers did decades or a hundred or more years ago. Books from that period are often spoiled by imperfections that did not exist in the original. Imperfections could be in the form of blurred text, photographs, or missing pages. It is highly unlikely that this would occur with one of our books. Our extensive quality control ensures that the readers of Trieste Publishing's books will be delighted with their purchase. Our staff has thoroughly reviewed every page of all the books in the collection, repairing, or if necessary, rejecting titles that are not of the highest quality. This process ensures that the reader of one of Trieste Publishing's titles receives a volume that faithfully reproduces the original, and to the maximum degree possible, gives them the experience of owning the original work.We pride ourselves on not only creating a pathway to an extensive reservoir of books of the finest quality, but also providing value to every one of our readers. Generally, Trieste books are purchased singly - on demand, however they may also be purchased in bulk. Download or read book Studies in the Nitrogen Metabolism of Bacteria written by H. J. Sears and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-16 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Studies in the Nitrogen Metabolism of Bacteria: A Thesis Submitted to the Department of Chemistry and the Committee on Graduate Study of the Leland Stanford Junior University in Partial Fulfilment of the Requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy A chemical study of the metabolism of any organism is generally understood to mean a study of the food materials, the changes which take place in these materials within the organism, the agencies which bring about these changes, and the character and composition of the excretory products. It is obvious that the food materials of micro organisms may be as completely studied as those of higher forms. To determine the changes these undergo within the cell, however, and the exact composition of the excretory products is a problem of a much more difficult nature than the same task would be in the case of the higher plant and animal species. Book Nitrogen in the Marine Environment

Download or read book Nitrogen in the Marine Environment written by Edward J. Carpenter and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 919 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nitrogen in the Marine Environment provides information pertinent to the many aspects of the nitrogen cycle. This book presents the advances in ocean productivity research, with emphasis on the role of microbes in nitrogen transformations with excursions to higher trophic levels. Organized into 24 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the abundance and distribution of the various forms of nitrogen in a number of estuaries. This text then provides a comparison of the nitrogen cycling of various ecosystems within the marine environment. Other chapters consider chemical distributions and methodology as an aid to those entering the field. This book discusses as well the enzymology of the initial steps of inorganic nitrogen assimilation. The final chapter deals with the philosophy and application of modeling as an investigative method in basic research on nitrogen dynamics in coastal and open-ocean marine environments. This book is a valuable resource for plant biochemists, microbiologists, aquatic ecologists, and bacteriologists.

Book Genetics and Regulation of Nitrogen Fixation in Free Living Bacteria

Download or read book Genetics and Regulation of Nitrogen Fixation in Free Living Bacteria written by Werner Klipp and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-01-28 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Genetics and Regulation of Nitrogen-Fixing Bacteria This book is the second volume of a seven-volume series, which covers all fields of research related to nitrogen fixation - from basic studies through applied aspects to environmental impacts. Volume II provides a comprehensive and detailed source of information concerning the genetics and regulation of biological nitrogen fixation in free-living prokaryotes. This preface attempts to provide the reader with some insight into how this volume originated, how it was planned, and then how it developed over the several years of its production. Once the editorial team was established, the first job was to decide which of the many free-living diazotrophs that have been subjected to genetic analysis should be included in this volume. Would we need to develop specific criteria for selection or would the organisms, in effect, select themselves? Of course, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Azotobacter vinelandii, which have served (and still serve) as the main model organisms for the genetic analysis of diazotrophy, plus some of the other bacteria described in this volume, did indeed select themselves. However, there was considerable discussion surrounding well-characterized fixing species, like Azorhizobium caulinodans and Herbaspirillum seropedicae, both of which are able to fix atmospheric N under free-living conditions.

Book Omics Driven Crop Improvement for Stress Tolerance volume II

Download or read book Omics Driven Crop Improvement for Stress Tolerance volume II written by Weicong Qi and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2024-09-04 with total page 139 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Climate change and global warming are arising threats to ecology and agriculture, and the biotic and abiotic stresses on crop cultivation are becoming more severe. Simultaneously, hunger and poverty remain widespread around the world and are rather thriving with the global population increases, over-fertilization, and land degradation. Rising challenges therefore make the adaptation of agriculture to the environment even more pivotal. Plant tolerance against various stress, including abiotic and biotic stresses mostly, is a classic topic and also a hot spot, of which the goal is to provide possibilities to improve the crops’ sustainability in coping with varied environments. Sustainable crop improvement can help feed the growing population in such an era of shrinking arable land and dwindling water resources. Worldwide, the inexorable exposure of plants to the environment makes crops always come to cross biotic and abiotic stresses, which constantly affect the food supply. Scientists have devoted efforts to improve crop resistance against devastating stressors such as drought, salt, nutrition deprivation, pests and pathogens, etc., and save yields from destruction. With the explosive development of omics technologies, e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, interactomics, and phenomics, crop improvement is embarking on a fire-new bioinformatics era. The integration of multi-omics will provide new perspectives to understand the intricate nature of stress response in crops
