Book An Introduction to the Psychological Problems of Industry Classic Reprint

Download or read book An Introduction to the Psychological Problems of Industry Classic Reprint written by Frank Watts and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-05 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from An Introduction to the Psychological Problems of Industry An increasing number of persons - works managers, politicians, trade unionists, welfare-workers and students - has become deeply interested in industrial psychology. In this book the author has attempted to bring together and develop much that may legitimately be discussed under that heading. No one will deny the difficulty of treating this subject in a dispassionate manner, but every endeavour has been made to deal with the more vexed questions in as impartial a spirit as is humanly possible. If the attempt has not been successful, then it can at least be claimed that the path has been made easier for my successor. What is not claimed, however, is that this present work is more than an introduction to an admittedly complex subject: the time is hardly ripe for a complete text-book in industrial psychology. I should like here to express my sense of indebtedness to Prof. T. H. Pear for reading through the proofs of these pages, and for making many valuable suggestions which have enabled me to improve the text considerably. This book was released on 2017-11-28 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Psychology and Industrial Efficiency Clear, concrete illustrations which demonstrate the possibilities of the new method. In the follow ing pages, accordingly, it will be my aim to ana lyze the results of experiments which have actu ally been carried out, experiments belonging to many different spheres of economic life. But these detached experiments ought always at least to point to a connected whole; the single experiments will, therefore, always need a general discussion of the principles as a background. In the interest of such a wider perspective we may at first enter into some preparatory questions of theory. They may serve as an introduction which is to lead us to the actual economic life and the present achievements of experimental psychology. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electronic Inspection Copy available for instructors here The field of social psychology is defined by a number of 'classic studies' that all students need to understand and engage with. These include ground-breaking experiments by researchers such as Asch, Festinger, Milgram, Sherif, Tajfel and Zimbardo. With the help of international experts who are renowned for work that has extended upon these researchers' insights, this book re-examines these classic studies through careful reflection on their findings and a lively discussion of the subsequent work that they have inspired. Organized in a way that way maps onto the content of most introductory courses, this title can work at a number of levels: as an accessible text for introductory classes that present a historical analysis of social psychology via its key studies, or as a broad-ranging text for higher-level courses that survey contemporary theory and encourage critical thinking. More generally, it is a compelling read for anyone who wants to know more about social psychology and the dramatic studies that lie at its heart.
