Feedback from students helps the teacher understand student perceptions about the degree of their expression of voice and its impact on their learning. Student voice affects many aspects of the learning environment. This article explores the perceptions of one class of high school students at a suburban high school. It inquires into expressions of voice of the members of this community and the effect that the expression of voice has upon the students' learning. Considering the effect of voice in several areas, this inquiry focuses on the students' own perceptions as they gain progressively greater control over the content, activities and spatial arrangements of the classroom environment.
