Book Research on the Structural and Electronic Properties of Defects in Amorphous Silicon

Download or read book Research on the Structural and Electronic Properties of Defects in Amorphous Silicon written by and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The work performed for this contract focused on the saturation of light-induced effects, hydrogen-mediated metastability and growth, defects and electronic properties, and remote hydrogen plasma growth. This work included research on hydrogen chemical reactions, hydrogen density-of-states model and metastability, hydrogen bonding configurations, a model for the role of hydrogen complexes in the metastability, and hydrogen chemical potential and growth structure. This document also covers research on thermal generation currents in p-i-n diodes, field dependence of the generation current, metastability effects at contacts, and potential fluctuations in compensated a-Si:H. Information is included on plasma diagnostics using electron spin resonance and nuclear magnetic resonance measurements of remote hydrogen plasma films.

Book Defects and Disorder in Crystalline and Amorphous Solids

Download or read book Defects and Disorder in Crystalline and Amorphous Solids written by Richard Catlow and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 511 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of defects and disorder in solids remains a central topic in solid state science. Developments in the field continue to be promoted by new experimental and theoretical techniques, while further impetus for the study of disorder in solids is provided by the growing range of applications of solid state materials in which disorder at the atomic level plays a crucial rOle. In this book we attempt to present a survey of fundamental and applied aspects of the field. We consider the basic aspects of defective crystalline and amorphous solids. We discuss recent studies of structural, electronic, transport, thermodynamic and spectroscopic properties of such materials. Experimental and theoretical methodologies are reviewed, and detailed consideration is given to materials such as fast ion conductors and amorphous semiconductors that are of importance in an applied context. Any survey of this large field is necessarily selective. We have chosen to emphasise insulating (especially oxidic) and semi-conducting materials. But many of the approaches and techniques we describe apply generally across the entire field of solid state science. This volume is based on a NATO ASI held at the Residencia Santa Teresa de Jesus, Madrid in September 1991. The Editor is grateful to the NATO Scientific Affairs Division for their sponsorship of this School. Thanks are also due to all who participated in and lectured at the school, but especially to the organising committee of A. V. Chadwick, G. N. Greaves, M. Grigorkiewicz, J. H. Harding and S. Book Structure and Imperfections in Amorphous and Crystalline Silicon Dioxide

Download or read book Structure and Imperfections in Amorphous and Crystalline Silicon Dioxide written by R. A. B. Devine and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2000-05-18 with total page 538 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Structure and Imperfections in Amorphous and Crystalline Silicon Dioxide Edited by R. A. B. Devine, University of New Mexico, USA J.-P. Duraud, ESRF, Grenoble, France and E. Dooryhée, ESRF, Grenoble, France Silicon dioxide is one of the most common naturally occurring materials. Its applications range from nuclear waste storage to optical fibre communications to silicon microelectronics. Experts from America, Europe and Japan have written chapters covering both the amorphous and the crystalline phases of the material with particular reference to its structure and defects. The book is divided into four sections: Topological Models for the Crystalline and Amorphous Phases Electronic Structure Macroscopic and Point Defects Processing and Applications of Crystalline and Amorphous Phases Engineers, researchers and postgraduate students of materials science, physics and engineering will all find this an extremely useful addition to their libraries.

Book Structural and Electronic Studies of Defects in Amorphous Silicon Technical Progress Report March May 1980

Download or read book Structural and Electronic Studies of Defects in Amorphous Silicon Technical Progress Report March May 1980 written by and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Proton magnetic resonance data are presented for plasma-deposited amorphous Si:H as a function of annealing temperature up to 650°C. The data indicate that hydrogen diffuses internally before major evolution occurs, that transfer of hydrogen occurs from a heavily clustered phase to a dilute phase coincident with evolution and that evolution occurs initially from the heavily clustered phase. Comparison with infrared data indicates that the heavily clustered phase can be either SiH/ sub x/t = 2,3) or SiH.
