Book excerpt: The practice of Tantra Yoga is considered to be the highest and most rapid path to enlightenment. While many movements today describe tantra as a sexual practice promising longer and better orgasms, increased stamina, and ecstasy, the real Tantra aims to awaken Kundalini, the dormant potential force in the human personality. The Tantra tradition includes a vast range of practical teachings leading to the expansion of human consciousness and the liberation of primal energy. By heightening their awareness to this connective energy, readers will learn to embrace and develop a higher level of intimacy, the heart of tantra. Stiles explains this intimate and life-changing practice with grace, structure, and clarity--an easy-to-follow Tantra Yoga workshop in book form. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Yoga therapy is commonly used for the management of arthritis, but often focusses exclusively on adaptation of the physical poses and on structural solutions. This book moves beyond the traditional routines to present yoga as a lifestyle designed to improve quality of life and overall well-being for individuals living with arthritis and rheumatic conditions. By incorporating the ancient practices of yoga as both physical and mental exercises involving a model of 5-koshas or sheaths (physical, energetic, mental/emotional, wisdom, and spiritual), the yoga therapy practice presented here will help reduce pain and shift the perspective of the individual living with arthritis. This therapy uses a whole-person approach that employs a broad range of tools to address the biopsychosocial effects of arthritis through the application of yoga practices and philosophy. Useful as a guide for people living with arthritis, this book is full of inspiration for self care along with instructions for yoga teachers and medical professionals to guide their clients using this whole-person perspective.

  • ISBN : 9781484838785
  • Pages : 0 pages

Download or read book Myofascial Yoga written by Kirstie Bender Segarra and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2013-08-11 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The goal of Myofascial Yoga: A Movement and Yoga Therapists Guide to Asana is to show how teaching asana should include fascia, connective tissue, as an integrative and necessary step to bring yoga asana fully into movement therapies in the West. This approach integrates Eastern and Western techniques and is truly a unique opportunity to explore ourselves from a somatic level of awareness while moving through and changing patterns that keep us from living more freely in joy and health. Tom Myers, Author writes "In the book you hold, Kirstie Segarra has laid out clearly, concisely, and usefully how the asanas relate to the Anatomy Trains, and how to take up and teach (whether teaching yourself or others) the anatomy of asana in a way that makes sense to the body and to the person. Enjoy the ride." "Intuition and scientific knowledge are not opposed, they are simply two different ways of knowing. This book allows you to blend both ways of knowing in mutual service to each other to develop your inner and your outer knowledge of yoga in your own living body." The illustrations are in honor of Tom Myers first edition of the Anatomy Trains and done in a more artistic format. Any anatomy connoisseur would relate to this choice of medium. The book does include the digital forms of the myofascial meridians for more concise detail (updated for better printing of images July 2015). I recommend you look at the preview before purchasing. This book was initially designed to be used a textbook for the UNM-Taos Yoga Teacher Training Program as a guide to some of the pitfalls of teaching yoga asana. This book is not intended to teach someone how to teach asana through cueing. It is not intended to replace some of the great anatomy yoga books available with high resolution computer graphics. It is best to use this as a support to teaching or practicing yoga and as an introduction to learning the myofascial meridians.
