Book Structural Relaxation and the Glass Transition in Metal metal Glasses microform

Download or read book Structural Relaxation and the Glass Transition in Metal metal Glasses microform written by Ming Mao and published by National Library of Canada = Bibliothèque nationale du Canada. This book was released on 1993 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This thesis presents the results of a systematic study on the structural relaxation and the glass transition of ternary metal-metal glasses Zr$ sb{67}$(Ni$ sb{1-x}$Cu$ sb{x}) sb{33}$. Differential scanning calorimetry provides macroscopic evidence of structural changes from the compositional and temperature dependence of enthalpy change. Results from high precision x-ray diffraction and Mossbauer spectroscopy, performed mainly on $ rm Zr sb{67}Ni sb[symbol]Cu sb{23}$ (x = 0.7), complete the picture of structural changes at the atomic level." --

Book excerpt: "This thesis presents for the first time direct structural measurements of both reversible and irreversible structural relaxation and the glass transition in the metal-metalloid glass Pd$ sb{40}$Ni$ sb{40}$P$ sb{20}$. The techniques have been x-ray diffraction and Mossbauer spectroscopy, and a new analysis method for changes of amorphous diffraction patterns was developed." --

Book Kinetics of Structural Relaxation in Metallic Glasses PdGe FeNiPB

Download or read book Kinetics of Structural Relaxation in Metallic Glasses PdGe FeNiPB written by and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When a metallic glass is annealed at temperatures below the glass transition temperature its structure changes with time. This structural change is observed to have an irreversible component and a reversible component. Our work has concentrated on studying the reversible component of the structural relaxation. In this paper the reversible component is called chemical short-range order (CSRO) and the irreversible components topological short-range order (TSRO). It is believed important to determine if the spectrum of relaxation times has fine structure. Experiments have been carried out to obtain the maximum possible detail about the kinetic behavior of the CSRO changes. Also a new method of analysis of the response curve, referred to as direct spectrum analysis, has been used to resolve fine structure in the spectrum of relaxation times.

Book Comparison of Structural Relaxation Behavior in As Cast and Pre Annealed Zr Based Bulk Metallic Glasses Just Below Glass Transition

Download or read book Comparison of Structural Relaxation Behavior in As Cast and Pre Annealed Zr Based Bulk Metallic Glasses Just Below Glass Transition written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper, the [alpha]-relaxation of pre-annealed Zr55Cu30Ni5Al10 bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) was compared with that of as-cast Zr-based BMGs including Zr55Cu30Ni5Al10. The [alpha]-relaxation was investigated by volume relaxation. The relaxation behavior was well described by a stretched exponential relaxation function, [Phi] (t) H"exp [- (t/[tau] [alpha])[beta] [alpha]], with the isothermal relaxation time, [tau][alpha], and the Kohlrausch exponent, [beta][alpha]. The [beta][alpha] exhibited the strong temperature dependence for the pre-annealed BMG, while the weak temperature dependence was visualized for the as-cast BMG similar to the dynamic relaxation. The [tau][alpha]'s were modified by Moynihan and Narayanaswamy-Tool-Moynihan methods that reduce the difference in the thermal history of sample. Finally, as a result, the relaxation kinetics in the glass resembled that of a liquid deduced from the behavior of viscosity in the supercooled liquid.

Book Metallic Glasses

Download or read book Metallic Glasses written by Behrooz Movahedi and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2016-08-17 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metallic glasses and amorphous materials have attracted much more attention in the last two decades. A noncrystalline solid produced by continuous cooling from the liquid state is known as a glass. From the other point of view, a noncrystalline material, obtained by any other process, for example, vapor deposition or solid-state processing methods such as mechanical alloying, but not directly from the liquid state, is referred to as an amorphous material. At this moment, bulk metallic glasses (BMG) are appearing as a new class of metallic materials with unique physical and mechanical properties for structural and functional usage. Extreme values of strength, fracture toughness, magnetic properties, corrosion resistance, and other properties have been registered in BMG materials.
