Book Structural electrical and magnetic properties of rare earth doped spinel ferrites

Download or read book Structural electrical and magnetic properties of rare earth doped spinel ferrites written by Dr. Yogiraj Vijapure and published by Ashok Yakkaldevi. This book was released on 2022-09-13 with total page 127 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first natural magnetic material found to man in pre historic time was magnetite (Fe3O4), which is now known as ferrous ferrite. The story of ferrites begins with the search for ferromagnetic material of usual high resistivity to obtain reasonable low eddy current losses. When ferrimagnetic materials placed in alternating field, eddy current generates into them, which dissipates energy. These losses can be reduced by lamination of ferrimagnetic core to restrict eddy current. Since, eddy current losses are inversely proportional to the resistivity; they can be minimized by use of magnetic materials of high resistivity. Ferrites having resistivity of up to 107Ωm as compared to 10-7Ωm of iron, reduces the eddy current losses in them to a negligible value, even at microwave frequencies.

Book excerpt: Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2010 in the subject Physics - Nuclear Physics, Molecular Physics, Solid State Physics, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University (-), course: PH.D., language: English, abstract: Wide scope is available to study these aspects of ferrite which at present to our knowledge was not probe by researchers. In relevance to the ever expanding possibilities, and potential that is available with the ferrite materials, the scope of presently undertaken work is designed carefully by selecting suitable ferrite and dopants. A sincere attempt was made to extract fruitful, exhaustive and, systematic information regarding structural, cation distribution, electrical, dielectric and magnetic aspects of the ferrite systems under investigations. In the present study, the properties of nickel ferrites substituted by diamagnetic Zn2+, non-magnetic trivalent In3+ ions and tetravalent Ce4+ ions are studied for various compositions. The properties are investigated with a view to understand the effect of divalent, trivalent and tetravalent substitution in nickel ferrite. The thesis consists of five chapters. Chapter 1 related to Scope, problem statement, theory of magnetism, ferrites, background, motivation and aim of the present work, properties of the samples under investigations, objective and outline of thesis. Chapter 2, 3 and 4 related to results and discussion of structural, electrical and magnetic properties of Ni1-xZnxFe2O4, NiInxFe2-xO4 and Ni1-2xCexFe2O4 ferrite system respectively. Chapter 5 gives the summary, discussion and conclusion on Zn, In and Ce substituted nickel ferrite. On summarizing the results obtained on Ni-Zn, Ni-In and Ni-Ce spinel ferrites it can be concluded that; - The structural properties are found to be varying in all the three systems. Book Influence of Rare Earth on Structural Magnetic and Electrical Properties of Aluminum Doped Strontium Hexaferrite

Download or read book Influence of Rare Earth on Structural Magnetic and Electrical Properties of Aluminum Doped Strontium Hexaferrite written by Dom Lal Kunwar and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Kunwar, Dom Lal. M.S. The University of Memphis. August 2015. Influence of Rare-earth on Structural, Magnetic and Electrical Properties of Aluminum Doped Strontium Hexaferrite. Major Professor: Sanjay R. Mishra, PhD. Among family of ferrites, M-type hexaferrites find host of industrial applications ranging from simple magnets to microwave devices. Improvement in magnetic and dielectric properties of ferrites is a continuous area of interest. The adapted strategies to bring in aforementioned desired improvements are via exploring various synthesis route and doping strategies including viz. magnetic, non-magnetic, and rare-earth atoms in ferrites. In view of the above, the present work studies in detail the effect of co-doping rare-earth (RE: Pr, Sm, and Gd) and aluminum in Sr0.82RE0.18Fe12-xAlxO19 (x=0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0) synthesized via autocombustion technique. Detailed synthesis, structural, magnetic, and electrical measurements of samples were performed towards understanding structural-magnetic-electrical property relationship. The variations in physical properties of as synthesized samples were understood in terms of rare-earth ion charge distribution, site occupancy of RE3+ and Al3+ ions, and grain size. The substitution of RE3+-Al3+ brings in grain refinement due to induced lattice strains upon accommodating doped ions. Gd3+-Al3+ displayed smallest crystallite size among all RE3+-Al3+ samples. The Al3+ substitution for Fe3+ brings in significant enhancement in coercivity but reduces magnetization due to magnetic dilution effect. Additional coercivity enhancement was possible with RE3+ doping without affecting the magnetization of samples. This is an important development towards producing high energy magnets. Among all RE3+ doped samples Pr3+ doped samples showed highest Curie temperature, (Tc4̃65 & ordm;C), while Gd3+ doped samples showed little variation in dielectric properties in GHz frequency range. This makes RE3+ doped samples as ideal candidate for high frequency microwave applications. From above observations Pr3+ with oblate charge distribution (negative Stevens constant) was observed to substitute well into the lattice consequently brining in desired improvements in physical properties of Sr0.82RE0.18Fe12-xAlxO19 ferrite.
