Download or read book Structural Analysis of Helicopter Flight and Hangar Decks written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication clarifies and modernizes the text in the current Design Data Sheet, DDS 130-2, used to analyze the structural strength of US Navy ship helicopter flight and hangar decks. This document explains the DDS 130-2 procedure to provide a better understanding of the methodology. The DDS 130-2 and this document provide a uniform standard and simplified method for the strength analysis of the helicopter flight and hangar deck structure on US Navy Ships. The analysis method is specifically for helicopter operations. Any other loading conditions or aircraft operations in the handling areas should be considered separately. The DDS 130-2 includes helicopter with both wheeled and skid type landing gear, this paper focuses on helicopters with wheeled gears only.

The Series includes the proceedings of the following conferences: the International Maritime Association of the Mediterranean (IMAM) conferences, the Marine Structures (MARSTRUCT) conferences, the Renewable Energies Offshore (RENEW) conferences and the Maritime Technology (MARTECH) conferences. The ‘Marine Technology and Ocean Engineering’ series is also open to new conferences that cover topics on the sustainable exploration and exploitation of marine resources in various fields, such as maritime transport and ports, usage of the ocean including coastal areas, nautical activities, the exploration and exploitation of mineral resources, the protection of the marine environment and its resources, and risk analysis, safety and reliability. The aim of the series is to stimulate advanced education and training through the wide dissemination of the results of scientific research.

Book Structural Response Methods and Evaluation Results for Helicopter Landing Decks on 210 and 270 Foot USCCG Cutters

Download or read book Structural Response Methods and Evaluation Results for Helicopter Landing Decks on 210 and 270 Foot USCCG Cutters written by M. O. Critchfield and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since 1976, the David W. Taylor Naval Ship Research and Development Center has been assisting the U.S. Coast Guard in evaluating the strength of several helicopter landing deck configurations for existing 210-foot long cutters and for the new 270-foot cutters. These evaluations were performed based on a combined program of (a) analytical, (b) one-fifth-scale rigid vinyl model, and (c) full-scale investigations for several landing gear load conditions, including the main and tail wheels on the U.S. Navy LAMPS Helicopter. The analytical side of the program included: framing analyses using the finite-element method and other techniques; nonlinear, large-deflection analyses of the deck plating; and web bending analyses in the stiffeners. The web bending stresses referred to here are associated with local out-of-plane bending of the web due to a rotation of the joint between the stiffener web and the deck plating. These web stresses are distinct from those related to ordinary bending of the stiffener in the vertical plane. Web bending stresses in the stiffeners were first observed in full-scale tests on the 210-foot cutter STEADFAST and are not specifically addressed by current design procedures. A one-fifth-scale rigid vinyl model was used to validate the analytical procedures and also to investigate such considerations as load placement, orientation, and tire print geometry.

Book Aluminium Structural Design

Download or read book Aluminium Structural Design written by Frederico M. Mazzolani and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-05-04 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject of the book is the design of aluminium alloys structures. The subject is treated from different points of view, like technology, theory, codification and applications. Aluminium alloys are successfully employed in the transportation industry; A parallel trend has been observed in the last decades in civil engineering structures, where aluminium alloys compete with steel (long-span roofing, bridges, hydraulic structures, offshore superstructures). This volume collects the lectures of out-standing international experts, who are all involved in the codification activity of Eurocode 9 on Aluminium Structural Design. It illustrates, with particular reference to the fields of transportation and civil engineering, the basic design principles from the material properties and the technological aspects of their application, to the evaluation of the resistance of the structural elements (member and plates) under static, dynamic and fatigue loading conditions.

Book Lectures on Innovation in Building Technology

Download or read book Lectures on Innovation in Building Technology written by M. Eekhout and published by IOS Press. This book was released on 2016-03-10 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a collection of articles written in recent years and used in lectures for students at the Faculty of Architecture at Delft and at Nottingham University. The lectures and articles are based on a mixture of innovations in academia and industry. They elucidate the relationship between architecture and building technology, as well as high technology, transfer of technology, innovative design, development and research in the Chair of Product Development at TU Delft. With his experience in both industry and academia, Eekhout’s goal is to bridge the gap between the two worlds and to stimulate them both, to prepare students to be inventive, innovative and daring enough to materialize their own dreams in practice. The lecture articles are based on the adventures and experiences in Mick Eekhout’s design & build experimental laboratory cum factory, which works on projects all over the world, and for many interesting clients. Eekhout was able to develop an innovative technical vocabulary for lightweight structures and claddings in architecture and encourages students to attempt the same.
