Book Strongly Correlated Electron Systems Ii Proceedings Of The Adriatico Conference And Miniworkshop

Download or read book Strongly Correlated Electron Systems Ii Proceedings Of The Adriatico Conference And Miniworkshop written by G Baskaran and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1991-02-28 with total page 444 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the second in a series of miniworkshops and Adriatico conferences devoted to the exciting field of strongly correlated electron systems including quantum Hall effect, metal insulator transition, heavy fermions and high Tc superconductivity. In spite of enormous efforts made by physicists worldwide to solve these difficult problems, many important issues are still widely open and this topic remains the most active field in condensed matter physics. The review talks and reports on original research given by the experts in the field represent a state-of-the-art summary of this fast-moving field.

Book Superconductivity Gnsm cnr And Consorzio Infm Proceedings Of Xxiv Italian National School On Condensed Matter

Download or read book Superconductivity Gnsm cnr And Consorzio Infm Proceedings Of Xxiv Italian National School On Condensed Matter written by S Pace and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1991-09-30 with total page 522 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject of the School is on the theory and phenomenology of 'classical' superconductivity. However, the selection and treatment of the different topics is done in the perspective of the new, 'high Tc'' materials, in order to clarify what is already contained in the BCS frame, and what is not.

Book Mechanisms of Conventional and High Tc Superconductivity

Download or read book Mechanisms of Conventional and High Tc Superconductivity written by Vladimir Z. Kresin and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 1993-06-17 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Superconductivity has become one of the most intensely studied physical phenomena of our times, with tremendous potential to revolutionize fields as diverse as computing and transportation. This book describes the methods, established results, and recent advances in the field. The goal is to present recently developed theoretical models in light of the long-sought aim of achieving the effect at very high temperatures. The book includes a detailed review of various mechanisms, including phononic, magnetic, and electronic models. The authors focus on the phenomenon of induced superconductivity in the high-temperature oxides, particularly the high-transition-temperature cuprates. They also discuss a variety of low-temperature superconducting systems in conventional materials and organics. The book links the crucial experiments with the most current theories, offering a unified description of the phenomenon. All researchers (and graduate-level) students involved with work in superconductivity will find this an invaluable resource, including solid-state and condensed-matter physicists and chemists, and materials scientists.

Book The Mott Metal Insulator Transition

Download or read book The Mott Metal Insulator Transition written by Florian Gebhard and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-07-01 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Little do we reliably know about the Mott transition, and we are far from a complete understanding of the metal --insulator transition due to electr- electron interactions. Mott summarized his basic ideas on the subject in his wonderful book Metal--Insulator nansitions that first appeared in 1974 11. 1). In his view, a Motk insulator displays a gap for charge-carrying excitations due to electron cowelations, whose importance is expressed by the presence of local magnetic moments regardless of whether or not they are ordered. Since the subject is far from being settled, different opinions on specific aspects of the Mott transition still persist. This book naturally embodies my own understanding of the phenomenon, inspired by the work of the late Sir Kevill Mott. The purpose of this book is twofold: first, to give a detailed presen- tion of the basic theoretical concopts for Mott insulators and, second, to test these ideas against the results from model calculations. For this purpose the Hubbard model and some of its derivatives are best suited. The Hubbard model describes a Mott transition with a mere minimum of tunable par- eters, and various exact statements and even exact solutions exist in certain limiting cases. Exact solutions not only allow us to test our basic ideas, but also help to assess the quality of approxin~ate theories for correlated electron systems.
