Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unveiling Mercy will do just that—unveil how the mercy of God in the Messiah is spoken of from the very opening Hebrew word of the Bible, all the way to the closing chapter of Malachi. By the end of the year, you will have entered the Old Testament through 365 new doorways, looked with fresh eyes at old verses, and traced a web of connections all over the Scriptures that you've never spotted before. You'll begin to see what one person meant when he described Hebrew words as "hyphens between heaven and earth." Reading the Bible in translation can be like "kissing the bride through the veil." Each of these 365 devotions is crafted so as to lift that veil ever so slightly, to touch skin to skin, as it were, with the original language. You do not need to know anything about Hebrew to profit from these meditations. They are not written to teach you the language of Abraham, Moses, and Isaiah, but to give you a taste of their insights, to expose you to their eloquence, to laugh with them at their winking wordplays, to un-English their idioms, and—most importantly—to trace their trajectories all the way into the preaching of the Messiah and the writings of his evangelists and apostles.

Book Surprising Answers Discovered for Today s Controversies

Download or read book Surprising Answers Discovered for Today s Controversies written by William Whitley and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2005 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Discovered" looks at all of the different types of scriptures that pertain to eleven controversial subjects through the lens of widely accepted and easily understood methods of analyzing sentences in order to obtain their full meaning: rules of grammar, choosing the most appropriate definition of words based upon their use, using two or more sentences to gain more meaning from a sentence where there is a solid link between the sentences, the method of elimination, the laws of probability, simple math, and common sense. By applying a purely logical approach to these scriptures, we will discover Gods views on these topics. On the most controversial subjects (Homosexuality/Lesbianism, Abortion, Suicide, and Female Equality) the views found to be of God are one hundred and eighty degrees from the views given by the orthodox interpretations. A unique perspective is found on the topics of Sin Without Forgiveness, and what is Hell Like? On the subject of Masturbation, and Is Drinking Alcohol a Sin, a liberal view is found. For the remaining subjects (White Lies, Will Heaven be on Earth, and Saved/Always Saved) the orthodox views prevail.

Book The Biblical Ilustrator Vol 28 Pastoral Commentary on Hosea

Download or read book The Biblical Ilustrator Vol 28 Pastoral Commentary on Hosea written by Charles Spurgeon and published by Primedia E-launch LLC. This book was released on 2013-10-06 with total page 459 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: **This ebook version of The Biblical Illustrator - Pastoral Commentary on Hosea contains nearly 900 pages of commentary! What if Charles Spurgeon helped you prepare next Sunday’s sermon? Or what if you could talk over your preaching with Joseph Parker, Richard Baxter, Henry Ward Beecher and H. P. Liddon. Do you think it would make a difference to get the input of some of the greatest preachers who ever lived? That’s precisely what Joseph Exell had in mind when he put together the massive series of volumes called The Biblical Illustrator. In what can only be called a Herculean feat, he spent years gathering preaching notes and sermon outlines from the very best preachers of his day (in the late 1800s and early 1900s), and he did it covering every book of the Bible. And it is amazingly comprehensive. Exell approached his task by taking every verse in the Bible and seeking to discover how it has been preached in the past. Though there is plenty of exegetical material here, this is not primarily a commentary. This series is for preachers, teachers, Bible students and anyone else looking for penetrating pastoral insights from some of the all-time greats of the faith.

Book He of Whom it is Written

    Book Details:
  • Author : Jaroslav Rindoš
  • Publisher : Peter Lang
  • Release : 2010
  • ISBN : 9783631605509
  • Pages : 304 pages

Download or read book He of Whom it is Written written by Jaroslav Rindoš and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2010 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Scholarly discussion concerning Elijah in Luke is affected mainly by the detection of the many allusions to Elijah in connection with Jesus and, at the same time, by noting the absence of some associations of Elijah with John the Baptist familiar from the Gospel according to Mark. This twofold observation has brought many scholars to rethink whether or not Luke continues to present John as the Elijah who was to come. In Luke's perspective, John is the Elijah promised by Malachi acting «in the spirit and power» of the Elijah of old. Luke, furthermore, agrees with Malachi that the promised messenger prepares for «the Lord». These and several other claims concerning the theme are proposed to the reader as the fruit both of the scholarly discussion and of an analysis of the appropriate Lucan texts in this monograph.
