Book Adrian Frutiger Typefaces

Download or read book Adrian Frutiger Typefaces written by Heidrun Osterer and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2012-11-05 with total page 459 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The international creation of typefaces after 1950 was decisively influenced by the Swiss type designer Adrian Frutiger. His Univers typeface and the machine-readable font OCR-B, which was adopted as an ISO standard, are milestones, as is his type for the Paris airports, which set new standards for signage types and evolved into the Frutiger typeface. With his corporate types, he helped to define the public profiles of companies such as the Japanese Shiseido line of cosmetics. In all he created some fifty types, including Ondine, Méridien, Avenir, and Vectora. Based on conversations with Frutiger himself and on extensive research in France, England, Germany, and Switzerland, this publication provides a highly detailed and accurate account of the type designer’s artistic development. For the first time, all of his types – from the design phase to the marketing stage – are illustrated and analyzed with reference to the technology and related types. Hitherto unpublished types that were never realized and more than one hundred logos complete the picture.

Book A Practical Approach to Motor Vehicle Engineering

Download or read book A Practical Approach to Motor Vehicle Engineering written by Derek Newbold and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2000 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Practical Approach to Motor Vehicle Engineering explains the fundamental principles for each system found in the motor vehicle, including engines, brakes, electrical systems and transmission. This core information is then set in the relevant context of health and safety, customer relations and the testing and replacement of engines enabling the student to gain a wider understanding of motor vehicle engineering. The authors make the text accessible to a broad range of abilities by preparing a basic foundation of theory and exercises before including more taxing problems as knowledge is built up. Practical exercises are included to demonstrate the theory and these can be used in schools, colleges and garage workshops to assess understanding as each task is undertaken. This up-to-date text, based on the Institute of the Motor Industry's 600 series NVQ syllabus, is essential reading for students and keen amateurs in the field of motor vehicle engineering and maintenance. Essential reading for students on motor vehicle courses. Covers NVQ units up to level ll and provides guidance on building up a portfolio of evidence. Contains over 400 line drawings and photographs.

This book was released on 2023-05-29 with total page 571 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is an open access book. The world is getting ready to face the post-COVID-19 pandemic, this can be seen from the decline in the existing indicators of morbidity and mortality. However, the effects of the pandemic do not only have implications for health problems, but also in various fields such as social, mental, economic, including quality of life.Various ways of preparation for improvement Improving the quality of life after a pandemic includes a health literacy approach, nutrition, and a holistic approach. For this reason, the ICHWB 2022 international seminar focuses on health recovery in improving the quality of life after a pandemic from the point of view of health literacy, nutrition, and a holistic approach.International Conference on Health and Well-Being (ICHWB) 2022 invites all potential authors from universities, industries and business sectors to submit papers in the areas of medicine, dentistry, food, nutrition and health, public health, health services, nursing and physiotherapy. This conference is part of a conference program called International Summit on Science Technology and Humanity (ISETH) 2022 Organized by Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. The aim of ICHWB in 2022 is to obtain scientific evidence for the restoration of health and improve the quality of life after the pandemic for the people and health programmes. This conference will be held virtually, in Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, Central Java Indonesia.Theme: Health Recovery to Improve the Quality of Life After the Covid-19 Pandemic

Book Compressed Earth Block Rammed Earth Structures

Download or read book Compressed Earth Block Rammed Earth Structures written by B. V. Venkatarama Reddy and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-02-11 with total page 475 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book focuses on low carbon construction materials such as stabilised compressed earth blocks (CEB’s) and rammed earth (RE). The content has been divided into four broad themes which includes an introduction to earth construction & stabilised earth, stabilised compressed earth blocks and masonry, stabilised rammed earth, and energy, carbon emissions, sustainability and case studies. It provides basic introduction to earthen materials and earthen structures, particularly with reference to the contemporary work on stabilised earth products for structural applications in buildings. The illustrations in the form of graphs, tables and photographs help the reader to get a grip over the CEB and RE construction. The book illustrates many case studies and examples of CEB and RE buildings. The knowledge on structural characteristics of CEB and RE especially with reference to the durability of such earthen products, and the structural design aspects is uniquely dealt. The embodied energy, embodied carbon, and the impact on construction sector touching upon sustainability of buildings is another unique feature of the book. This volume will be a useful guide for the research community, teachers, engineers, architects, building professionals, practicing engineers, students and individuals aspiring to build low carbon and sustainable buildings.
