Book The Stripline Circulator

Download or read book The Stripline Circulator written by Joseph Helszajn and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-05-16 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stripline circulator theory and applications from the world's foremost authority The stripline junction circulator is a unique three-port non-reciprocal microwave junction used to connect a single antenna to both a transmitter and a receiver. Its operation relies on the interaction between an electron spin in a suitably magnetized insulator with an alternating radio frequency magnetic field. In its simplest form, it consists of a microwave planar gyromagnetic resonator symmetrically coupled by three transmission lines. This book explores the magnetic interaction involved in the stripline circulator's operation, the nature of the microwave resonator shape, and the network problem that arises in coupling the microwave resonator to the microwave circuit. The stripline circulator is an important device met across a wide range of industries, including wireless, military, radar, and satellite communications. The book's design tables are a unique feature, offering valuable design support. Written by an international authority on non-reciprocal microwave circuits and devices, the book is organized into logical blocks of chapters that focus on specific effects and circuit aspects of the stripline circulator. Among the highlights of coverage are: Spatial shape demagnetizing factors of magnetic insulators Standing wave solutions of wye gyromagnetic planar resonators Lumped element circulators Negative permeability tracking and semi-tracking circulators Four-port single-junction circulators Fabrication of very weakly and weakly magnetized microstrip circulators The final chapter explores important and continuing discrepancies between theoretical models and actual practice. For designers building circulators, isolators, and phase shifters; researchers working on the limitation of ferrite devices; and graduate students intending to work in the field, Dr. Helszajn's insights and perspectives are invaluable.

Book Computer Aided Approach to the Design of Y Junction Stripline and Microstrip Ferrite Circulators

Download or read book Computer Aided Approach to the Design of Y Junction Stripline and Microstrip Ferrite Circulators written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New interest is shown in modernization of ferrite component technology. The workhorse of ferrite components is the Y-junction circulator; it is used as a 3-port circulator, 2-port isolator, or a single-p throw switch. For new technology it is useful to increase bandwidth capability, minimize size, and create designs compatible with monolithic circuits. Until now there has been no publicly available circulator analysis computer program. A concise compendium on microwave ferrite Y-junction circulators is provided in this report. It consists of background and tutorial information on ferrite media, junction circulator theory and evolution, modern improvements in the theory that permit wideband analysis, inclusion of dielectric losses in the ferrite, and a listing for a FORTRAN computer program to perform wideband circulator performance analysis. This theoretical information and computer program will be useful for further work on optimization of circulator bandwidth, size, and monolithic circuit compatibility. Also, it will be useful in examining quantitatively the effects of dielectric losses.

Book Planar Circuits for Microwaves and Lightwaves

Download or read book Planar Circuits for Microwaves and Lightwaves written by T. Okoshi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Until recently, three principal classes had been known in the electrical cir cuitry. They were as follows: 1) The lumped-constant circuit, which should be called a zero-dimensional circuit, in the sense that the circuit elements are much smaller in size as compared with the wavelength in all three spatial directions. 2) The distributed-constant circuit, which should be called a one-dimensional circuit, in the sense that the circuit elements are much smaller than the wavelength in two directions but comparable to the wavelength in one di rection. 3) The waveguide circuit, which should be called a three-dimensional circuit, in the sense that the circuit elements are comparable to the wavelength in all three directions. The principal subject of this book is the analysis and design (synthesis) theories for another circuit class which appeared in the late 1960s and became common in the 1970s. This new circuit class is 4) the planar circuit, which should be called a two-dimensional circuit, in the sense that the circuit elements are much smaller in size as compared with the wavelength in one direction, but comparable to the wavelength in the other two directions.

Book The Use of Ferrites at Microwave Frequencies

Download or read book The Use of Ferrites at Microwave Frequencies written by L. Thourel and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-10-27 with total page 115 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Use of Ferrites at Microwave Frequencies describes the applications of ferrites at microwave frequencies and the apparatus involved. Topics covered range from the properties of ferrites to gyromagnetic and non-reciprocal effects, ferrite isolators, circulators, and modulators. The use of ferrites in variable frequency filter cavities is also discussed. Mathematical explanations are reduced to the strict minimum and only the results of calculations are indicated. This book consists of seven chapters and opens with a review of the theory of magnetism, touching on subjects such as the BOHR magneton, diamagnetism and paramagnetism, ferromagnetism and antiferromagnetism, ferrimagnetism, and demagnetizing. The next chapter deals with the elementary theory of gyromagnetic effects and covers the kinetic moment theorem, precession of the spin moment, gyromagnetic resonance, complex permeability, and gyromagnetic effects in the atom. The reader is then introduced to ferrites and their properties; non-reciprocal effects and their applications; and ferrite isolators, circulators, and modulators. The final chapter describes the use of ferrites in the design of cavities whose resonant frequency is controlled by a magnetic field or filters with variable characteristics. This monograph is written primarily for microwave and electronics engineers.
