Book excerpt: We report on a search for flavor-changing neutral current decays of B mesons into [mu][mu]K[sup [plus-minus]] using data obtained in the Collider Detector at Fermilab (CDF) 1992--1993 data taking run. To reduce the amount of background in our data we use precise tracking information from the CDF silicon vertex detector to pinpoint the location of the decay vertex of the B candidate, and accept only events which have a large decay time. We compare this data to a B meson signal obtained in a similar fashion, but where the muon pears originate from [psi] decays, and calculate the relative branching ratios. In absence of any indication of flavor-changing neutral current decay we set an upper limit on the branching ratio of 3.2 [times] 10[sup [minus]1], which is consistent with Standard Model expectations but leaves little room for non-standard physics.

Book excerpt: In an experiment at the Brookhaven National Laboratory AGS a number of radiative decays of the K°/sub L/(..pi ... pi..−..gamma.., ee−..gamma.. and ..mu..+..mu..−..gamma..) were studied. The charged particles from these decays were detected in a 5000 wire proportional chamber spectrometer and the gammas were detected in a 194 element lead glass Cherenkov counter array. Preliminary results, based on approximately 25 percent of our total data sample, are as follows: The branching ratio K°/sub L/ yields ..pi pi gamma..(direct)/K°/sub L/ yields all = 5.5 /sup +/- 1.0 x 10−5. One example of the previously unobserved decay K°/sub L/ yields ee..gamma.. was found, yielding a branching ratio of 8.3 +- 8.3 x 10−6. No examples of the decays K°/sub L/ yields ..mu mu gamma.., ee..pi..°, and Z/sup +/..mu mu pi..° were found, yielding improved upper limits of K°/sub L/ yields ..mu mu gamma../K°/sub L/ yields all
