Download or read book Phytochemistry in Corrosion Science written by Chandrabhan Verma and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-03-27 with total page 553 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Phytochemistry in Corrosion Science covers the use of plant extracts/phytochemicals in corrosion mitigation with industrial applications. It explores innovative and characterization approaches toward the utilization of plant extracts and their phytochemicals as potential corrosion inhibitors for several metals and their alloys. Providing a comprehensive overview of the green aspects of plant extracts as corrosion inhibitors, this book discusses the preparation of aqueous and organic phase extracts, and their advantages, disadvantages, and use for different aggressive media. It also examines aqueous and organic extracts that have been successfully used as corrosion inhibitors for various metals and electrolyte combinations. This book will be a useful reference for undergraduate and graduate students and academic researchers in the fields of phytochemistry, corrosion science and engineering, environmental science, chemical engineering, green chemistry, and mechanical/industrial engineering.
Download or read book Corrosion Engineering and Cathodic Protection Handbook written by Volkan Cicek and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2017-02-28 with total page 1063 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Corrosion Engineering and Cathodic Protection Handbook combines the author's previous three works, Corrosion Chemistry, Cathodic Protection, and Corrosion Engineering to offer, in one place, the most comprehensive and thorough work available to the engineer or student. The author has also added a tremendous and exhaustive list of questions and answers based on the text, which can be used in university courses or industry courses, something that has never been offered before in this format. The Corrosion Engineering and Cathodic Protection Handbook is a must-have reference book for the engineer in the field, covering the process of corrosion from a scientific and engineering aspect, along with the prevention of corrosion in industrial applications. It is also a valuable textbook, with the addition of the questions and answers section creating a unique book that is nothing short of groundbreaking. Useful in solving day-to-day problems for the engineer, and serving as a valuable learning tool for the student, this is sure to be an instant contemporary classic and belongs in any engineer's library.

Download or read book Geothermal Resources written by R. Bowen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 495 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the Arab oil embargo of 1974, it has been clear that the days of almost limitless quantities of low-cost energy have passed. In addition, ever worsening pollution due to fossil fuel consumption, for instance oil and chemical spills, strip mining, sulphur emission and accumulation of solid wastes, has, among other things, led to an increase of as much as 10% in the carbon dioxide content of the atmosphere in this century. This has induced a warming trend through the 'greenhouse effect' which prevents infrared radiation from leaving it. Many people think the average planetary temperatures may rise by 4°C or so by 2050. This is probably true since Antarctic ice cores evidence indicates that, over the last 160000 years, ice ages coincided with reduced levels of carbon dioxide and warmer interglacial episodes with increased levels of the gas in the atmosphere. Consequently, such an elevation of temperature over such a relatively short span of time would have catastrophic results in terms of rising sea level and associated flooding of vast tracts of low-lying lands. Reducing the burning of fossil fuels makes sense on both economic and environmental grounds. One of the most attractive alternatives is geothermal resources, especially in developing countries, for instance in El Salvador where geothermal energy provides about a fifth of total installed electrical power already. In fact, by the middle 1980s, at least 121 geothermal power plants were operating worldwide, most being of the dry steam type.

Download or read book Fundamentals of Materials Science and Engineering written by William D. Callister, Jr. and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-07-28 with total page 960 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text is an unbound, three hole punched version. Fundamentals of Materials Science and Engineering: An Integrated Approach, Binder Ready Version, 5th Edition takes an integrated approach to the sequence of topics – one specific structure, characteristic, or property type is covered in turn for all three basic material types: metals, ceramics, and polymeric materials. This presentation permits the early introduction of non-metals and supports the engineer's role in choosing materials based upon their characteristics. Using clear, concise terminology that is familiar to students, Fundamentals presents material at an appropriate level for both student comprehension and instructors who may not have a materials background. This text is an unbound, three hole punched version. Access to WileyPLUS sold separately.
