Book Strength of Steel Concrete Floor Slabs

Download or read book Strength of Steel Concrete Floor Slabs written by Ernest Bear and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-26 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Strength of Steel Concrete Floor Slabs: Thesis The tensile strength of concrete is much smaller than its compressive strength. A concrete beam in flexure will fail by tension in the concrete. Any method.by which this tensile strength can be increased, or by which the tension can be taken by some stronger material, will increase the load-carrying capacity of the beam, so long as the resisting strength for compression is equal to or greater than that for tens1on. Book Composite Structures of Steel and Concrete

Download or read book Composite Structures of Steel and Concrete written by Roger P. Johnson and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2018-08-21 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an introduction to the theory and design of composite structures of steel and concrete. Material applicable to both buildings and bridges is included, with more detailed information relating to structures for buildings. Throughout, the design methods are illustrated by calculations in accordance with the Eurocode for composite structures, EN 1994, Part 1-1, ‘General rules and rules for buildings’ and Part 1-2, ‘Structural fire design’, and their cross-references to ENs 1990 to 1993. The methods are stated and explained, so that no reference to Eurocodes is needed. The use of Eurocodes has been required in the UK since 2010 for building and bridge structures that are publicly funded. Their first major revision began in 2015, with the new versions due in the early 2020s. Both authors are involved in the work on Eurocode 4. They explain the expected additions and changes, and their effect in the worked examples for a multi-storey framed structure for a building, including resistance to fire. The book will be of interest to undergraduate and postgraduate students, their lecturers and supervisors, and to practising engineers seeking familiarity with composite structures, the Eurocodes, and their ongoing revision.

Book Composite Steel and Concrete Structures Fundamental Behaviour Second Edition

Download or read book Composite Steel and Concrete Structures Fundamental Behaviour Second Edition written by D.J. Oehlers and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 588 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with the analysis and behaviour of composite structural members that are made by joining a steel component to a concrete component. The emphasis of the book is to impart a fundamental understanding of how composite structures work, so engineers develop a feel for the behaviour of the structure, often missing when design is based solely by using codes of practice or by the direct application of prescribed equations. It is not the object to provide quick design procedures for composite members, as these are more than adequately covered by recourse to such aids as safe load tables. The subject should therefore be of interest to practising engineers, particularly if they are involved in the design of non-standard or unusual composite structures for buildings and bridges, or are involved in assessing, upgrading, strengthening or repairing existing composite structures. The fundamentals in composite construction are covered first, followed by more advanced topics that include: behaviour of mechanical and rib shear connectors; local buckling; beams with few shear connectors; moment redistribution and lateral-distortional buckling in continuous beams; longitudinal splitting; composite beams with service ducts; composite profiled beams and profiled slabs; composite columns; and the fatigue design and assessment of composite bridge beams.

Book Dynamic Strength Study of Small Fixed edge Longitudinally Restrained Two way Reinforced Concrete Slabs

Download or read book Dynamic Strength Study of Small Fixed edge Longitudinally Restrained Two way Reinforced Concrete Slabs written by Wayne M. Brown and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Increases in ultimate strengths of 23.7 (Series I) and 24.6 (Series II) percent under dynamic loading were obtained. Theoretical slab strengths were determined. Modification of the equations used allowed good predictions of tensile membrane resistance of the static slabs. The equations were used to predict peak pressures sustained by the dynamic slabs.

Book Punching of Structural Concrete Slabs

Download or read book Punching of Structural Concrete Slabs written by fib Fédération internationale du béton and published by fib Fédération internationale du béton. This book was released on 2001-01-01 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Punching is considered to be one of the most difficult problems in structural concrete design and mechanical models or theoretical analyses were developed rather late in the history of concrete research attempts. This fib Bulletin reviews the development of design models and theoretical analyses since the CEB Bulletin 168 Punching Shear in Reinforced Concrete - State-of-the-Art Report published in 1985. The role of the concrete tensile strength was specially addressed. In this respect the present bulletin is also following-up the CEB Bulletin 237 Concrete Tension and Size Effects - Utilisation of concrete tension in structural concrete design and relevance of size effect - Contributions from CEB Task Group 2.7 published in 1997. Apart from new theoretical developments a comprehensive databank for comparisons with experimental evidence is included. About 400 punching tests were critically reviewed and evaluated in a consistent manner. This is thought to be the first step towards a generally agreed selection of reliable tests. The evident value of such a data bank is illustrated by comparisons carried out between the data and some of the analytical proposals as well as empirical code formulas. List of contents : (1) Introduction, (2) Code equations, (3) Mechanical models for punching, (4) New developments for mechanical models, (5) Numerical investigations, (7) Comparison of mechanical models and test results of slabs without shear reinforcement, (8) Comparison of code rules and tests of flat slabs without shear reinforcement, (9) Comparison of codes, models and tests of flat slabs with shear reinforcement, (10) Experimental investigations, (11) Summary and conclusions, References, Appendices : (I) Databank on slabs without shear reinforcement, (II) Databank on slabs with shear reinforcement, (III) Comparison of test data with code rules, (IV) Comparison of test data with selected models, (V) Notations.

Book Advances in Concrete Slab Technology

Download or read book Advances in Concrete Slab Technology written by Ravindra K. Dhir OBE and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-05-18 with total page 804 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advances in Concrete Slab Technology documents the proceedings of the International Conference on Concrete Slabs held at Dundee University on April 3-6, 1979. This book discusses the influence of steel fiber-reinforcement on the shear strength of slab-column connections; sulfur-treated concrete slabs; yield line analysis of orthotropicaly reinforced exterior panels of flat slab floors; and behavior of flat slab/edge column joints. The design of multiple panel flat slab structures; structural behavior of floor slabs in shear wall buildings; shrinkage and cracking of concrete at early ages; and slab construction for HAB system modules are also elaborated. This text likewise covers the direct finishing of concrete slabs using the early age power grinding technique; application of vacuum dewatering to in-situ slab production; retexturing of concrete slabs; and fatigue resistance of composite precast and in situ concrete floors. This publication is a good reference for students and individuals concerned with the practices and research relating to slab technology.
