Book Strength for the Journey Ahead

Download or read book Strength for the Journey Ahead written by Toyin Adewumi and published by . This book was released on 2020-03-15 with total page 96 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For us to travel and reach our destination, we need strength. Just as it was with Elijah, so it is with many of us today. The angel said the journey ahead was too much for him. By reason of this declaration, he got up, ate, drank and got strengthened by the food. Afterwards, he travelled and got to the mountain of God. When you are endowed with this strength, it gives you the power and ability to do things beyond natural or human strength and comprehension. Interestingly, it can make you do things that trigger surprise. For example, two men left for the same journey and accessed the same route. While one journeyed on foot, the other rode on an animal. But to everyone's amazement, the one who travelled on foot arrived the set destination first. This was explicitly portrayed in 1 king 18:45-46.

Book Strength for the Journey

Download or read book Strength for the Journey written by Diana Butler Bass and published by Church Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2017 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Updated version of spiritual autobiography from an important voice in the church -- Insights on how parishes have confronted issues of change As a standard in the field of spiritual autobiography, Diana Butler Bass' Strength for the Journey has been a guide for thousands of Christians who have also found themselves "journeying" along a path toward a faith different from that discovered in childhood. This new edition will retain all that drew readers to its pages alongside the voice of those next generation Christians now walking that path for themselves. In Strength for the Journey, Diana Butler Bass illustrates the dynamic strength and persistence of mainline Protestantism. While many baby boomers left the church, only to come back later in life, Bass was a "stayer" who witnessed the struggles and changes and found much there that was meaningful. Offering thought-provoking portraits of eight parishes she attended over two decades, she explores the major issues that have confronted mainline denominations, congregations, and parishioners during those years -- from debates over women clergy to conflicts about diversity and community to scrimmages between tradition and innovation

  • Pages : 292 pages

Download or read book Strength for the Journey written by Theophilus Titus Chondol and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2014-11-12 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Early reflections and impressions about the significance of life on earth, and the purpose of our existence to bring glory and pleasure to our God remains the hallmark of this work. After all, what else are you here for, if not to live for the cause God created you? Jesus said, For this cause came I unto this hour; to this end was I born and for this cause came I into the world (John 12: 27 and 18: 37). God in His grand plan for creation designed and decided our race, tribes, nationalities, geographical locations, times, seasons, and the bounds of our habitation. God planned that mankind may seek Him and find Him, because our purpose for existence is to His praise and glory (Acts 17: 2628 and Isa. 43: 7 and 21). Theophilus approaches this book with simplicity, sharing his very experience with God, as he journeys in God to the place of true fulfilment in life. The message in this book encourages you to never settle for Gods second best, when your original place is there for you before the foundation of the world. God has made available the strength you need to be the person He had in mind for your assignment on earth. This book shares that with you and encourages you to pursue your fullness in God.

At the behest of CREDO Institute, Inc., which hosts health and wellness conferences and is supported by the Episcopal Church Pension Fund, priest and CREDO conference leader Renée Miller wrote the 20 reflections and grouped them into the categories: Meditative Practice, Ministry Practice, Media Practice, Mind Practice, and Movement Practice. For the reader who wishes to use the book to introduce or more deeply explore spiritual practices with other people or in an instructional setting, each chapter concludes with a nod toward who might be inclined to certain practices, based on individual predilections or personality.
