Book The Investigation of Deep Reinforced Concrete Beams Under Static and Dynamic Loading Vol Ii Strength and Behavior in Shear

This book was released on 1961 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Thirty-five beams were tested, 13 statically and 22 dynamically, to determine their strength and behavior in shear; to determine if failure under a dynamic load was different from that under a static load; and to evaluate the effectiveness of web reinforcement in moderately deep beams. All beams tested, both statically and dynamically, exhibited arch action prior to failure. Three types of failures are described for both tests: flexure, shear, and flexure-shear. Web reinforcement in the beams tested both ways contributed little toward an increase in strength or a change in behavior and mode of failure, except for generally reducing the ultimate deflections. The static strength at flexural yielding in these moderately deep beams could be predicted reasonably well by the conventional straight line theory. The ultimate static flexural strength could be predicted by the standard ultimate strength procedure provided an increased value of the limiting concrete strain equal to 0.008 is used at failure. Book Static and Dynamic Shear Behavior of Uniformly Loaded Reinforced Concrete Deep Beams

Download or read book Static and Dynamic Shear Behavior of Uniformly Loaded Reinforced Concrete Deep Beams written by Robert A. Crist and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 560 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Behavioral equations were developed for reinforced concrete deep beams, especially in the realm of shear capacity. A series of static and dynamic beam tests was performed to aid in the development of this objective. Static shear behavior equations for deep beams were derived on the lower boundary of reinforced concrete deep beam data represented by research from this report and other research comprising 73 tests. Equations for a total static shear capacity are given which conservatively predict shear capacities of the beam tests considered. (Author).

Book Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Deep Beams Under Static and Dynamic Loading

Download or read book Behavior of Reinforced Concrete Deep Beams Under Static and Dynamic Loading written by Fred W. Beaufait and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 60 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the review of eleven references concerning reinforced concrete deep beams, it was possible to summarize: (1) the modes of failure of deep beams, (2) the static ultimate strength design equations for flexure and shear, and (3) the flexure and shear design equations for deep beams subjected to dynamic loading. In addition, a computer program was written to develop the moment-curvature curve for a reinforced concrete beam section with tensile reinforcement in a single layer. A limited experimental investigation was conducted for two reinforced concrete deep beams having span-to-depth ratios of 1.67 and subjected to a single, concentrated dynamic load at midspan. The results served to point out the areas where additional research is required to develop a more complete understanding of the behavior of reinforced concrete deep beams. Recommendations are made as to needs for additional study. (Author).

Book Shear Behavior of Deep Reinforced Concrete Beams Volume V Dynamic Compressive and Tensile Properties of Plain Concrete

Download or read book Shear Behavior of Deep Reinforced Concrete Beams Volume V Dynamic Compressive and Tensile Properties of Plain Concrete written by Robert A. Crist and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Static and dynamic unconfined compression and tensile splitting tests were performed to correlate reinforced concrete beam behavior data gathered in other research. Nominal static compressive strengths ranged from 2,500 psi to 4,000 psi. An average constant rate of stress of 279 ksi/sec was applied to 18 dynamic compression specimens which showed an increase of 11 percent for dynamic ultimate compressive strength above static ultimate compressive strength. The increase in dynamic tensile splitting strength was determined empirically to increase at a greater rate than the dynamic compressive strength for the same concrete range of stress rates. Book An Investigation of the Behavior of Deep Members of Reinforced Concrete and Steel

Download or read book An Investigation of the Behavior of Deep Members of Reinforced Concrete and Steel written by W. J. Austin and published by . This book was released on 1960 with total page 1 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this investigation is to obtain information which will contribute to a better understanding of the strength and behavior of deep beams of reinforced concrete and steel subjected to slowly and rapidly applied loading, and to develop means for the prediction of this behavior. This report contains the following: (1) a thorough survey of the literature pertaining to the behavior of deep beams subjected to static and dynamic loads; (2) the results of static tests of twenty-three simply-supported, deep, reinforced concrete beams, fourteen under uniform loading and nine with a single concentrated load at midspan; (3) the results of dynamic tests on two simply-supported, deep, reinforced concrete beams; and (4) the results of one test of a deep, steel beam of I-shape cross section subjected to slowly-applied uniform loading. Experimental results are compared with theory. (Author).
