Book excerpt: Streamlined ID: A Practical Guide to Instructional Design presents a focused and generalizable approach to instructional design and development – one that addresses the needs of ID novices, as well as practitioners in a variety of career environments. Emphasizing the essentials and "big ideas" of ID, Streamlined ID presents a new perspective – one that aims to produce instruction that is sustainable, optimized, appropriately redundant, and targeted at continuous improvement. The book features an enhanced version of the classic ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) that emphasizes the iterative nature of design and the role of evaluation throughout the design/development process. It clearly lays out a systematic approach that emphasizes the use of research-based theories, while acknowledging the need to customize the process to address a variety of pedagogical approaches: Instructivist, Constructivist, and Connectivist. The book opens with an overview of the basics of ID and each subsequent chapter describes major activities in the ID process with step-by-step instructions and tips for streamlining the process. Numerous job aids serve to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of your design efforts. Each chapter highlights key concepts and provides additional exercises and assignments based on the work of Benjamin Bloom. Streamlined ID is an ideal reference guide for optimizing professional practice.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Solution Manual is designed to be used in conjunction with Streamline Study Guide: SAT Subject Test Math Level 2 Edition 1. For each question, the book provides the correct answer, and at least one worked out solution. The methods and strategies listed provide the easiest, most efficient and straightforward way of solving each problem. Each method identifies important concepts being tested, how to approach the problem, and eventually how to solve the problem. The goal is not only to help test-takers understand all the concepts, and be able to answer as many questions as possible correctly, but to go beyond that; and anticipate some of the pitfall, tricks, and errors encountered by most test takers. This Solution Manual also emphasizes the four main strategies that are vital to the test: Process of Elimination (POE), Guess and Check (GC), Picking Numbers (PN), and Calculator Usage (CU). Please refer to "General Strategies" pages 15 - 33 on Streamline Study Guide: SAT Subject Test Math Level 2 Edition 1 for a complete overview on how to employ each strategy. Finally remember that developing great problem solving skills takes practice and time. Therefore be patient: take your time while analyzing each solution, and make sure you fully grasp each answer and concept before moving on to the next problem. It is my greatest hope that this Solution Manual will prove to be a great resource to every student studying for the test. Twelve object collaboration patterns that address virtually any business scenario Powerful techniques–not fancy notation! Streamlined Object Modeling presents the first rigorous, practical framework for object modeling complex business domains, rules, and systems. Three world-renowned leaders in object development have pared object modeling down to the core concepts for all business domains, business rules, and business services. Starting from the first principles of "object think," the authors offer a fully integrated approach to building, validating, and critiquing object models. Coverage includes: Proven principles and techniques for successfully modeling the structure and operations of any business domain. Guidelines for finding and associating objects, assembling object models, and distributing system behavior among objects. Rigorous methods for discovering, organizing, and implementing business rules around objects. Twelve all-encompassing "collaboration patterns"–what they represent, how they relate, and how to apply them. Five kinds of business rules, three types of services, and six categories of properties completely specify object-oriented business requirements From start to finish, the book makes extensive use of examples drawn from real commercial applications. To illustrate how streamlined object modeling flows from analysis to code, it also presents a complete case study derived from a real-world application, and implemented in two leading object-oriented languages-Java, and the Squeak implementation of Smalltalk.

Book excerpt: The creation of this book resulted from over ten years of experience working with numerous students on the SAT Math Level 2 Subject test. Having used numerous texts and resources to prepare students for the test, I was well aware of the shortcomings that each source exhibited. I always had to rely on 2-3 books at a time to ensure that my students were well prepared. There was no single source that provided a complete and in-depth study guide to prepare for the test. My goal was therefore to create a comprehensive study guide that covered all the topics being tested. The materials in this book are well organized, and aim to provide students with an easy-to-follow study guide that will enable them to gauge their progress as they move from one unit to the next. The first chapter contains critical strategies that each student needs to master in order to outperform his/her own expectations. The rest of the topics are divided into 9 chapters that include basic concepts, formulas, and examples. At the end of each chapter is a chapter review that contains a lot of practice problems necessary to test your understanding of the concepts learned. It is my belief that practice makes perfect, and through hard work, dedication and rigor, every student can be successful. Having attended Stanford University, and worked with numerous students in college admissions counseling, I know how competitive the college admissions process has become. Students need to garner every inch of advantage to distinguish themselves from the rest of the application pool. The SAT Subject Tests provide such an avenue. Although most colleges do not require subject tests, subject tests are usually highly recommended. It is my greatest hope that this book will provide a great resource to each student studying for the Math Level 2 test. I would welcome any comments, suggestions or questions you may have via email to [email protected]. In addition, please feel free to email me with regards to any errors you may encounter while using the book. Your feedback will be highly valuable in updating and the completion of any future editions of this book.
