Book Trust and Confidence in Government and Public Services

Download or read book Trust and Confidence in Government and Public Services written by Sue Llewellyn and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-10-28 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Trust and confidence are topical issues. Pundits claim that citizens trust governments and public services increasingly less - identifying a powerful new erosion of confidence that, in the US, goes back at least to Watergate in the 1970s. Recently, media exposure in the UK about MP expenses has been extensive, and a court case ruled in favor of publishing expense claims and against exempting MPs from the scrutiny which all citizens are subject to under ‘freedom of information.’ As a result, revelations about everything from property speculation to bespoke duck pond houses have fueled public outcry, and survey evidence shows that citizens increasingly distrust the government with public resources. This book gathers together arguments and evidence to answers questions such as: What is trust? Can trust be boosted through regulation? What role does leadership play in rebuilding trust? How does trust and confidence affect public services? The chapters in this collection explore these questions across several countries and different sectors of public service provision: health, education, social services, the police, and the third sector. The contributions offer empirical evidence about how the issues of trust and confidence differ across countries and sectors, and develop ideas about how trust and confidence in government and public services may adjust in the information age.

Book Customer Experience Management for Water Utilities

Download or read book Customer Experience Management for Water Utilities written by Peter Prevos and published by . This book was released on 2017-10-15 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Customer Experience Management for Water Utilities presents a practical framework for water utilities to become more focussed on their customers. This framework is founded on Service-Dominant Logic, a contemporary theory of marketing that explains value creation as a process of co-creation between the customer and the service provider.Standard models for marketing do not apply to monopolistic water utilities without modification. The first two chapters develop a marketing mix tailored to water utilities to assist them with providing customer-centric services. The water utility marketing mix includes the value proposition, internal marketing, service quality and customer relationships. he book discusses the four dimensions of the marketing mix. Chapter three presents a template for developing value propositions to assist water utilities in positioning their service. This model is based on the needs and wants of individual customer segments and the type of service. Chapter four discusses internal marketing, activities designed to improve the way utilities add value for customers. This chapter also analyses potential tensions between engineering and science-oriented employees and proposes methods to resolve these tensions. The final chapters describe customer relationships from both a theoretical and practical perspective. The customer experience is a complex phenomenon that is difficult to quantify. The book provides a method to measure the experience of the customer, based on service quality theory and psychometric statistics.Customer Experience Management for Water Utilities is one of the first books that discusses urban water supply from a marketing perspective. This perspective provides a unique insight into an industry which is often dominated by technological concerns. This book is a valuable resource for Water Utility Managers and Regulators, as well as for Marketing Consultants seeking to assist water utilities to become more customer focussed.

Download or read book Local growth written by Great Britain. Department for Business, Innovation and Skills and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2010-10-28 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a white paper on local economic growth, moving power away from central government to local communities, citizens and independent providers. The Government aims to create a fairer and more balanced economy, one that is not so dependent on a narrow range of economic sectors, is driven by private sector growth and has new business opportunities that are more evenly balanced across the country and between industries. This paper sets out how the Government will put businesses and local communities in charge of their own futures, give greater incentives for local growth and change the way central government supports and maintains growth. There will be investment in a 1.4 billion pound Regional Growth Fund over the next three years which will help areas that depend too heavily on the public sector for jobs, helping create more sustainable private sector employment. This Fund has been designed to reflect the views put to the consultation that took place over the summer. The changes in the paper are part of the Government's new approach of decentralisation, creating local enterprise partnerships bringing together business and civic leaders to set the strategy and take the decisions that will allow their area to prosper. Looking at reforming the planning system will also be part of this making it easier for local areas to benefit from the proceeds of development. And the creation of more directly elected mayors will foster growth by giving more power to local areas so decision making will be more accountable and responsive to local economic conditions.
