Book Communications and Information in China

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Communications and Information in China is a focused analysis of the four fundamentals of the Chinese communications and information sector: dynamic landscape, which includes, most importantly, status, trends, directions, initiatives and characteristics of the Chinese IT and communications industries; policy and regulatory framework, which represents a very hard-to-understand mish-mash of the Chinese political and regulatory structure that has significant impact on where, how and what Chinese IT related industries are heading to; ten most crucial regulatory and strategic issues that derive from China's domestic, political, economic and technological realities and controversies; and foreign involvement, which covers high stakes, critical challenges and contextual forces that international companies face. In-depth discussion also digs into what implications China's telecommunications industry reform and its WTO accession will have on foreign players who are involved in China's enormous but complex IT and communications market.

Book China as an Innovation Nation

Download or read book China as an Innovation Nation written by Yu Zhou and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2016 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume assesses China's transition to innovation-nation status in terms of social conditions, industry characteristics and economic impacts over the past three decades, also providing insights into future developments. Defining innovation as the process that generates a higher quality, lower cost product than was previously available, the introductory chapter conceptualizes the theory of an innovation nation and the lessons from Japan and Untied States. It outlines the key governance, employment and investment institutions that China must build for such transition to occur, and examines China's challenges and strategies to innovate in the era of global production systems. Two succeeding chapters explain the evolving roles of Chinese state in innovation, and the new landscape of venture capital finance. The remaining chapters provide studies of major industries, which contain analyses of the evolving roles of investment by government agencies and business interests in the process. Included in these studies are traditional industries such as mechanical engineering, railroads, and automobiles; rapidly evolving and internationally highly integrated industries such as information-and-communication-technology (ICT); and newly emerging sectors such as wind and solar energy. Written by leading academics in the field, studies in this volume reveal Chinese innovation as diverse across industries and enterprises and fluid over time. In each sector, we observe continued co-evolution of state policy, market demand, and technology development. The strategies and structures of individual companies and industrial ecosystems are changing rapidly. The sum total of the studies is a great step forward in our understanding of the industrial foundations of China's attempt to become an innovation nation.

Book China s Drive for the Technology Frontier

Download or read book China s Drive for the Technology Frontier written by Yin Li and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-07-07 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: China has become an innovation powerhouse in high-tech industries, but the widely held view assumes the Chinese model is built on technological borrowing and state capitalism. This book debunks the myths surrounding the Chinese model with a fresh take on China’s strategies for technological innovation. The central argument is that indigenous innovation plays a critical role in transforming the Chinese high-tech industry. Like any successfully industrialized nation in history, indigenous innovation in China allows industrial enterprises to assimilate knowledge developed elsewhere, utilize science and technology resources and human capabilities accumulated in the country, and eventually approach the technological frontier. The question is, how do Chinese businesses and governments engage in indigenous innovation? Employing the "social conditions of innovative enterprise" framework developed by William Lazonick and colleagues, this book analyzes how the interaction of strategy, organization, and finance in leading Chinese high-tech firms underpinned by national institutions enables indigenous innovation with Chinese characteristics. It features detailed case studies of two critical high-tech industries—the telecom-equipment industry and the semiconductor industry—and within them, the business histories of leading Chinese innovators. The in-depth look into China’s experience in indigenous innovation provides valuable lessons for advanced and emerging economies.

Book Mechanical Analysis of China s Macro Economic Structure

Download or read book Mechanical Analysis of China s Macro Economic Structure written by Xiaojiang Zhang and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-03-07 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is a major breakthrough in helping decipher and piece together the major interactive and flow investment dynamics within the complex Chinese economic structure, in an effort to guide global investors to formulate their own macro assessment and investment strategy in or related to China. Different from US that had a relatively short and ascending economic past, China endured a much longer history with quite a few volatile economic cycles. With that lesson of history in the background as the country’s guiding management principle, China’s economic policy and management superstructure, combined with regional government, business, consumer and investment community, form together a huge and complex operating environment of investment flow dynamics within which macro investment opportunities can be identified and strategies can be formulated by interested global and domestic investors..
